Muslim women . Some of them have filed PIL in
Supreme Court of India against the practice
terming it as "regressive” .
The petitioner has asked for scrapping of
section 2 of the Muslim Personal Law (Shariat)
Application Act, 1937, terming it against the
Article 14 of the Constitution.
During the hearings before its final judgment,
the Supreme Court of India, on 13 May 2017, has
described Triple Talaq as the "worst form of
marriage dissolution". It also noted that the
custom is banned in Muslim-majority countries
