Anything that draws electrical power is referred to as a load. Part of weatherizing a home includes minimizing the loads in the home in order to lower energy bills and maximize energy efficiency.
Artificial Lighting
Artificial lighting is provided by electricity, fixtures, and bulbs. Artificial lighting is a big contributor to high energy costs. It can contribute as much as 50 percent of the total energy costs of a home.
Lynn Clement of Focus on Energy once said, “If every American household replaces light bulbs in their five most frequently used fixtures with ENERGY STAR compact fluorescent bulbs, we could save more than $8 billion in annual energy costs and prevent greenhouse gases equal to the emissions of more than 10 million cars.”
Since lighting accounts for 20 to 25 percent of U.S. energy consumption, the move to more energy efficient lighting is very important.
Types of Lighting
There are three primary uses, or functions, for lighting in homes: task, ambient, and accent. Task lighting provides light to perform work. Ambient lighting may include light that is used for work but also includes lighting for safety and security. Any lighting used for contrast or ambiance is accent lighting. There are many different types of artificial lights available for residential uses.

Although Freud did not directly treat her, he did thoroughly analyze her case as he was fascinated by the fact that her hysteria was “cured” by Breuer. It is her case that he believes was the beginning of the psychoanalytic approach.

The Case of Anna O.
One of the first cases that inspired Freud in the development of what would eventually become the Psychoanalytic Theory was the case of Anna O. Anna O. was actually a patient of one of Freud’s colleagues Josef Breuer. Using Breuer’s case notes, Freud was able to analyze the key facts of Anna O’s case.
Anna O. first developed her symptoms while she was taking care of her very ill father with whom she was extremely close. Some of her initial symptoms were loss of appetite to the extent of not eating, weakness, anemia, and development a severe nervous cough. Eventually she developed a severe optic headache and lost the ability to move her head, which then progressed into paralysis of both arms. Her symptoms were not solely physical as she would vacillate between a normal, mental state and a manic-type state in which she would become extremely agitated. There was even a notation of a time for which she hallucinated that the ribbons in her hair were snakes.
Toward the end of her father’s life she stopped speaking her native language of German and instead only spoke in English. A little over a year after she began taking care of her father he passed away. After his passing her symptoms grew to affect her vision, a loss of ability to focus her attention, more extreme hallucinations, and a number of suicidal attempts (Hurst, 1982).
Both Freud and Jung would acknowledge that unconscious processes are at work in this woman's problems. However, they would come to different conclusions about the origin of these problems and the method by which she should be treated.

All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.

The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or

It all sounds more complex than it really is. Your outlining

The 25 Public Speaking Skills Every Speaker Must Have

Every public speaker should be able to:
1. Research a topic – Good speakers stick to what they know.
Great speakers research what they need to convey their
message.
24. 2. Help your audience grasp your message by focusing on your
message. Stories, humour, or other “sidebars” should connect to
the core idea. Anything that doesn’t needs to be edited out.
3. A well-organized presentation can be absorbed with minimal
mental strain. Bridging is key.
4. Employ, facts, and – Don’t include these for the sake of
including them, but do use them appropriately to complement
your ideas.
5. Metaphors enhance the understandability of the message in a
way that direct language often can not.
6. Everyone loves a story. Points wrapped up in a story are
more memorable, too!
7. and – The body of your presentation should be strong too,
but your audience will remember your first and last words (if,
indeed, they remember anything at all).
8. Knowing when to use humour is essential. So is developing
the comedic timing to deliver it with greatest effect.
9. A monotone voice is like fingernails on the chalkboard.
10. Punctuate words with – Gestures should complement your
words in harmony. Tell them how big the fish was, and show
them with your arms.
11. Utilize 3-dimensional space – Chaining yourself to the
lectern limits the energy and passion you can exhibit. Lose the
notes, and lose the chain.
12. Complement words with visual aids – Visual aids should aid
25. the message; they should not be the message. Read and adopt
the techniques.
13. Deliver the message they want (or need) to hear.
14. – Eye contact is only the first step. Aim to have the
audience conclude “This speaker is just like me!” The sooner,
the better.
15. Interact with the audience – Ask questions (and care about
the answers). Solicit volunteers. Make your presentation a
dialogue.
16. Not every speaking opportunity affords a Q&A session, but
understand how to lead one productively. Use the Q&A to
solidify the impression that you are an expert, not (just) a
speaker.
17. Lead a discussion – Again, not every speaking opportunity
affords time for a discussion, but know how to engage the
audience productively.
18. Maybe you have 2 minutes. Maybe you have 45. Either way,
customize your presentation to fit the time allowed, and respect
your audience by not going over time.
19. Set the context and make sure the audience is ready to go,
whether the introduction is for you or for someone else.
20. Exhibit confidence and poise – These qualities are
sometimes difficult for a speaker to attain, but easy for an
audience to sense.
21. Maybe the lights will go out. Maybe the projector is dead.
26. Have a plan to handle every situation.
22. Impromptu speaking (before, after, or during a presentation)
leaves a lasting impression too. Doing it well tells the audience
that you are personable, and that you are an expert who knows
their stuff beyond the slides and prepared speech.
23. Seek and utilize feedback – Understand that no presentation
or presenter (yes, even you!) is perfect. Aim for continuous
improvement, and understand that the best way to improve is to
solicit candid feedback from as many people as you can.
24. Study the strengths and weakness of other speakers.
25. Act and speak ethically – Since public speaking fears are so
common, realize the tremendous power of influence that you
hold. Use this power responsibly.
