This I Believe as a Learner


                  I believe in the Rational Choice Model. That
                     people do that which they feel is in their
Rational Choice      own best interest. As such I have
                     invested in my own education because I
Visual               feel it will advance my personal growth
                     and career goals. I believe I am a visual
Kinesthetic          and kinesthetic learner. That I take in that
                     which I see more than what I hear, and
Perpetual            what I “do” more than what I see. I
                     believe learning never stops, and one
                     should never stop learning by continually
                     seeking new opportunities.
This I Believe as a Teacher


              I believe it is the teachers task to convince
                 students education is in their own best
Importance       interest. That teachers facilitate
Facilitator      students' learning instead of bestowing
                 knowledge into students' heads. That to
Challenge        best do so means challenging students
                 ideas and preconceptions as well as
Safe             making tasks difficult yet obtainable.
                 And that in order to do so a safe and
Respect          respectful classroom environment is a
                 precondition to meaningful learning.
This I believe as a Technology Integrator


                  I believe technology levels the playing field
                     in an educational system that is not
Equalizer            created equal. I believe students become
                     engaged learners with the incorporation of
Engaging             technology. That the internet offers more
                     access to information than I could offer my
Communal             students after a lifetime of learning. That
                     open source programs and websites allow
 Learning            for social and communal learning, and
Literacy Skills      that this is a good thing although students
                     must be taught the critical thinking skills in
                     order to use it effectively.
