This document discusses the changing nature of social class in Britain. It notes that class was traditionally defined based on economic position and ownership of wealth and production, but now incorporates other factors like culture. Class still matters and influences identity, as seen through differences in language usage, location of residence, and assumptions made about others. A BBC survey identified 7 classes rather than traditional categories, showing that class is complex and depends on factors beyond just occupation, such as race, gender, and ethnicity. While class causes inequalities from exploitation, wealth alone does not define class which is influenced by various social and cultural aspects. The classes that define us are changing as society changes.
