The document discusses the idea that it's okay to be a C student and that C students can still achieve high levels of success. It notes that former US President George W. Bush said that even C students can become president. The document also provides some background on pedagogy, which is defined as the study of being a teacher or the process of teaching. It discusses how pedagogy comes from Greek words meaning "child" and "lead", and that pedagogy means to lead the child.

These slides provide a few tips for teaching in the 21st century. They might be useful for those who are new in the education sector and they show what you might need to make your lessons more exciting. These include a set of methods which might be a bit unorthodox but teaching is all about creativity after all.
No pain, no gain. CSS Code Reviews FTW.Stacy Kvernmo
CSS is often overlooked as something that would require a code review. The test for good CSS has been "Does everything look good?"
With the complexity and scale of our projects these days, "looks good" is simple not enough. This presentation dives into what it takes to create or progress a positive and beneficial code review process for yourself or your team.

What is history? Why should we study history? Within the context of our stories
concerning Christopher Columbus, Native Americans, the Pilgrims, or slavery,
discuss how historians (Zinn and Loewen) have dealt with the above issues
specifically. How have history textbooks begun to complicate our histories even
further? With regard to the above topics, how have your readings and studies in
this class differed from the ways in which these topics have been portrayed (all the
way back to elementary school) to you in previous classes? In the quote above,
W.E.B. DuBois suggests that in our studies of history, when we skim over the bad
parts, our histories begin to lose their value as “incentive and example.” What
does he mean by this? What are the far-reaching consequences of the ways in
which so many of us have been taught history?

Shared Intelligence - Building your PLN with the DENKyle Schutt
METC14 Session:
Can you imagine if all teachers had a "Magic Eight Ball" that they could turn to every time they had a question about instructional practice, technology or learning theory? It would provide resources, anecdotal experiences, practical applications of innovative tools, and much more. Luckily, through the connected and collaborative power of online technologies, we have access to a vast and vibrant network of educators that are infinitely more qualified than a Magic Eight Ball to provide ongoing, timely support and encouragement. Fuel your professional growth with help from The Discovery Educator Network (DEN). See ways in which these educators connect online and in-person, and power-up your personal learning network by connecting with educators like you!
Last week Monday April 28 was our last Community of Learners Meeting for our schools involved with the "Schools of the Future" grant initiative. Although our work continues as individual schools, we will need to develop new ways to connect and converse on our work. As a part of the last get together I put together a slide presentation reflecting on the journey and what it meant to be involved.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
