Analysis of the 2nd Prototype

  What was wrong?
1.  Cost: Time and energy. 	

    Why would I bother to pick up the post it, find a pen, think, draw, pin	

    	

2.  Complexity: Moderate.

Triability: Low	

    	

If I do it once, I know I won’t do it again.	

	

4.  Observability: Low	

       The chances are low that I see someone doing it, maybe I don’t even
       know what going on there, it’s not that visible as well.

Relative advantage: NA	

       What did I get out of it? Did it make any change in my life?
What was missing?	

1.  Focused interest group + specific goal.

1.  Going out in the field.	

2.  Spotting something important to me/to others that involve in
    this action.	

3.  Documenting what I’ve found.	

4.  Sharing it with the rest of the world, seeing it in a public
    platform/knowing it will do some good.	

5.  The relief of pride/ownership.
But WHY?	

1.  Be aware of the environment you are living in, be sensitive
    about it.	

2.  Take responsibility and ownership, contribute to improvement
    of the society you are living in.	

3.  Empower citizens to better advocate for their own community
    needs.
In the meantime…	

1.  I interviewed 2 of the project owners (Yasser Ansari, Joe Saavedra)	

2.  I had this huge conversation / interview with the lady who admins
    the Flickr group Leaves but Not Trees. 	

3.  I set up interviews with Esra Ozkan (Visiting Scholar from MIT),
    Dave Carrol, Nathan Becker (Project T2P) and Amy Minter (Special
    Projects Coordinator in The New School).

  • 18. Prototype means: “Learning from failures” What was wrong?
  • 19. 1.  Cost: Time and energy. Why would I bother to pick up the post it, find a pen, think, draw, pin 2.  Complexity: Moderate. 3. Triability: Low If I do it once, I know I won’t do it again. 4.  Observability: Low The chances are low that I see someone doing it, maybe I don’t even know what going on there, it’s not that visible as well. 5. Relative advantage: NA What did I get out of it? Did it make any change in my life?

What is the commonality, what’s my interest? 1.  Going out in the field. 2.  Spotting something important to me/to others that involve in this action. 3.  Documenting what I’ve found. 4.  Sharing it with the rest of the world, seeing it in a public platform/knowing it will do some good. 5.  The relief of pride/ownership.
  • 27. But WHY? 1.  Be aware of the environment you are living in, be sensitive about it. 2.  Take responsibility and ownership, contribute to improvement of the society you are living in. 3.  Empower citizens to better advocate for their own community needs.

In the meantime… 1.  I interviewed 2 of the project owners (Yasser Ansari, Joe Saavedra) 2.  I had this huge conversation / interview with the lady who admins the Flickr group Leaves but Not Trees. 3.  I set up interviews with Esra Ozkan (Visiting Scholar from MIT), Dave Carrol, Nathan Becker (Project T2P) and Amy Minter (Special Projects Coordinator in The New School).
