Punctuation Marks are a set of symbols with
specific rules for the usage of each type of
punctuation.
Basic Punctuation Marks
Comma (,)
A comma is useful when the writer wants to
pause before continuing his taught, add a phrase
that does not have any new subject, separate
items in a list, or use more than one adjective.
a) A comma is used to represent a pause
However, it is his priority to visit the beautiful
places in our country.
Example:

Is always used to end a sentence.
a.) A period is always used to mean that a point has
been made and that the writer is about to give
further explanations or a point that is related to the
previous.
There are several advantages in living in the
country side. When it comes to the environment,
the air is fresh and the surrounding is amazing
because of its wide rice fields, peaceful hills, and
clean rivers. Flowers of various types and colors
abound.

abbreviation of commonly used words.

Exclamation Point(!)
An Exclamation Point is used to express
a strong feeling within a sentence.
1. An exclamation point indicates strong
feeling within a sentence such as fear, anger,
joy or love.
2. An exclamation point can be used to indicate
sharp instruction.
Question Mark(?)
A question mark is basically used when
a sentence is asking a question.
Note: The question mark also serves as a period.
Semi-colon(;)
Semi-colon is considered to be the
hardest punctuation mark correctly.
a) A semi-colon is used when joining
two connected sentences.
b) A semi-colon can also be used to
assemble detailed list.
Colon(:)
When a colon is found within a
sentence, it implies a pause between two
phrases.
a) A colon is usually used in listing.
b) A colon can be used within a heading,
or descriptive title.

Dash(-)
In written communication, two kinds of
dash are used. They are the en dash and
em dash.

7. Rewrite after editing and proofreading it.
Guidelines in Literary writing
1. Be creative but precise in formulating your title.
2. Understand fully what you are expected to do.
3. Give more proofs to support your ideas.
4. Quotes should be followed by an explanation.

5. Develop your paragraph by giving topic
sentences, followed by the illustrations, and
end it with a conclusion.
6. Include all sources you used in your paper.
