The author introduces the concept of the "Scales of Success" to explain human behavior and why so many people struggle with self-help efforts. The Scales of Success compares internal reasons "Why To" do something with internal reasons "Why Not To" do something. When the perceived benefits or Why Tos outweigh the perceived costs or Why Nots, a person will engage in that behavior. However, for most people trying various self-help methods, their internal Why Nots end up outweighing their Why Tos, preventing real change and continued struggle. The author aims to reveal what is tipping the scales in favor of Why Nots for so many, and provide a new approach to rebalance the scales in

The document summarizes Seth Godin's book "The Dip" which argues that achieving mastery in a field requires pushing through difficulties rather than settling for mediocrity. It states that the path to becoming the best involves quitting pursuits where one cannot be the best to focus resources on overcoming challenges. I could easily expand this out to include 30 of my favourite B2B sales secrets I've discovered over the years, but I've distilled it down into my top 10. This presentation was done in partnership with Silicon Halton at Meetup #96 on October 19, 2017.
An out-of-the-box approach involves thinking differently from the standard or usual way. It requires practicing divergent thinking by considering information that may seem irrelevant. While having new ideas can feel exciting at first, many struggle to find success after taking an unconventional approach due to fears of being alone or different. Long thinking, or considering ideas for a long time, can help build the self-confidence and motivation needed to stick with atypical decisions. Thinking outside the box is most valuable when it is necessary to progress in a slow situation or when personal dignity demands an exceptional solution. An environment that is creative and acknowledges atypical thinking can enhance one's ability to take risks.
This document discusses thinking "out of the box" or in a non-standard, creative way. It notes that this approach is different from the standard approach and involves generating ideas from divergent information and stimuli. Thinking out of the box requires practicing this approach, having an open mind to alternative ideas, and being able to resist fear and temptation to conform to standard ways of thinking. True value comes from having the vision to see differences between standard and creative approaches. The environment can influence one's ability to think creatively, and there are times like when progress is slow or dignity demands new ideas, that thinking out of the box is useful.
The document provides guidance on competency building and planning for success. It discusses taking time to understand one's strengths, weaknesses, values and goals. Key steps include defining where you are currently, defining success, assessing risks, setting goals, managing changes, learning from feedback, and persisting through failures until achieving success. The overall message is that successful people thoughtfully plan their goals and careers, learn from setbacks, and persist through challenges rather than giving up.
This document discusses foundational rules for taking the labels off your life and changing your thinking and actions. The four foundational rules are 1) being present in the now, 2) accepting what you can and can't control, 3) choosing to make things happen rather than let things happen, and 4) realizing we create most of our own stress. It encourages the reader to clarify what they want and take inventory of their life, then take action by removing labels and grabbing more opportunities than obstacles.
This document outlines the framework and process for project management. It discusses the key stages in a project cycle including situation analysis, priority appraisal, strategy formulation, goal and objective setting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. For each stage, it provides questions to consider. It then describes the steps to conduct a thorough situation analysis: identify the problem, develop a problem statement and vision, conduct a desk review of existing literature, and collect additional data through stakeholder engagement. The outcome of a situation analysis is a clear understanding of the current situation and a shared vision for the desired outcome of the project.

Run to win!
25 All who compete in the games use strict training.
They do this so that they can win a prize--one that
doesn't last. But our prize is one that will last
forever.
26 So I run like someone who has a goal. I fight like a
boxer who is hitting something, not just the air.
27 It is my own body I fight to make it do what I want.
I do this so that I won't miss getting the prize
myself after telling others about it.
3. Philippians 3:12 - 16 (Contemporary English Version)
12 I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But
Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and
struggling to take hold of the prize.
13 My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I
forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead.
14 I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being
called to heaven. This is the prize that God offers
because of what Christ Jesus has done.
15 All of us who are mature should think in this same way.
And if any of you think differently, God will make it clear
to you.
16 But we must keep going in the direction that we are now
headed.
4. The summary of life is about winning……….
winning……..in marriage, academics, business etc
5. The type of “WINNING” I’m talking about is money-
making, bottom-line winning… the kind of winning
that puts money in the bank, clothes on your back,
a nice car in your driveway…. and shoes on your
Kids 'feet!
6. FACT:
There really is a secret that not one in 1,000 people
knows which, when you use it, can elevate you so far
above your competition that you’ll wonder why you
never thought of it before -- and I’m going to reveal it to
you right here… right now!
7.
8. What are you selling in
exchange for the money
or results you seek from
others?
But………you must accept that fact
that you ARE a salesperson
Now some (maybe even you) might say “I don’t sell
anything. I’m a ________________________________
(teacher, mother, pastor, student, clerk….. fill-in-the-
blank)”
9. • Accept your ideas
• Accept your point of view
• Keep paying you as an employee
• Respect you as a father / mother
• Hire you for a new job
• Keep you as a spouse
• Pay you money for any type of
service
• … and much, much more!
But there’s a problem…
… the problem is “You’re probably doing whatever
you’re doing the same way everybody else does it!”
10. Here’s the root of the problem…
By doing things the same way others do them, you create
for yourself a little problem we call – competition!
FACT: A state of competition exists
when customers (or family
members) look at you, then look at
other people, and compare the two
of you against each other.
As soon as others think they can make a comparison
between you and someone (or some thing) else – you
LOSE!
As soon as your prospects, customers, or family members look
at you and someone else and, in their minds, see you as equal --
you have LOST! GAME OVER!
11. Because no matter how good you are, if you choose to
compete directly with others in any arena of business
or life, there will ALWAYS be someone who is
• bigger more fun
• better • better looking
• faster • earlier
• richer • flashier
• smarter • quicker
• nicer • or cheaper than you are!
It’s a fact… if you live in the world of competition, you WILL (not
might or maybe)… you WILL eventually lose to someone else.

15. • Doing things in a different, more innovative, more
beneficial way than others currently do.
Doing things in a new way that separates you
from the competition in the minds of your prospects.
Being a creator rather than a competitor separates
you…so much that they wont even make any
comparison…..
YOU STAND ALONE………….and STANDOUT!”
Simply put………….Be DIFFERENT!”
16. CREATION comes with a price… a price
most people are mysteriously NOT
