The water cycle describes the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth. Water evaporates from surfaces like oceans, lakes, and rivers and rises into the air as vapor. The vapor cools and condenses to form clouds and precipitation falls back to Earth as rain, snow, sleet, or hail, completing the cycle.
