The water cycle describes the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth. It includes processes such as evaporation where water is changed to a gas, condensation where it returns to a liquid form in clouds, and precipitation where it falls back to Earth as rain, snow, or hail. The water then either soaks into the ground as surface runoff or is taken up by plants through transpiration and the cycle repeats.
