several animal welfare organizations, one of which is Farm
Sanctuary.
Since its inception in 1986, Farm Sanctuary has been committed to
the protection of farm animals and the promotion of a vegan life.
Through its various animal rescue efforts and fundraising events,
Farm Sanctuary strives to raise public awareness of the abuses of
factory farming and the poor treatment of farm animals. One of the
organization’s fundraising and awareness events is their Walk for
Farm Animals. The Walk for Farm Animals is held every fall in cities
throughout Canada and the United States. Since Farm Sanctuary’s
first Walk for Farm Animals was held, the events have generated
almost $2 million in funds to help farm animals.

3.  Through participation in the walks, people become a part of the Farm
Sanctuary’s outreach programs and help spread the message of
farm animal issues.
The Walk for Farm Animals is held to provide awareness of farm
animals. It has been shown that pigs have a higher intelligence than
dogs, while cows have shown a strong loyalty to their herd. However,
since these animals are often marginalized by society, the Walk
gives them a voice by spreading the facts regarding their treatment.
The Walk for Farm Animals also helps to raise funds for Farm
Sanctuary to provide emergency care, food, and permanent homes
to abused farm animals that have been rescued. The funds that are
raised through participation in the Walk also go to supporting the
organization’s various educational and advocacy programs that are
designed to help edify society about the cruel treatment of farm
animals.
