throughout Georgia and on the responsibilities involved with pet ownership, such as spay/neuter and
heartworm prevention.

In 2015, Angels Among Us Pet Rescue gained national attention
with the rescue of Kala and Keira, the Hugging Dogs.
It started with a social media cry for help from Kala:
“If no one saves us, someone will take her away from me…
We have to have someone rescue us or we'll be next.”
Written from the dogs perspective, Angels Rescue, had just 2 hours
to gain a foster and funding to rescue Kala, an 11-month-old hound
mix, and Keira, a 1-year-old boxer mix.
“We’ve comforted each other while we were here,” Kala continued in the Facebook post.
Then the public saw the photo of these two dogs hugging each other behind the shelter bars. The post explained that Kala
and Keira were in a shelter and scheduled to be put to sleep: “Today is their last day unless we can save them.”
In just 2 hours and 6 minutes the Hugging Dogs had a foster. By the next morning news organization from Tel Aviv to New
York were calling for interviews and that afternoon the AngelsRescue.org website crashed! The national coverage gave the
organization our most famous dogs. Today, the Hugging Dogs are adopted and living happily in the Atlanta area. But the
image lives on…

Myah
Myah is one of the worst cases of
neglect and over-breeding that we
have ever seen. Tossed out like
garbage, she was brought into
animal control when she was well
beyond her breeding prime. We
learned she had only ever lived
outdoors, was never given any sort
of flea or tick prevents, and was
frightfully thin. Her skin was raw
and oozing from mites and mange.
Her recovery took months of
medicated baths, compassionate
trust building, and unconditional
love. Today, Myah has a choice of
many dog beds, although she
prefers to reside on fluffy carpet in
the living room, near her humans.
FUNDING NEEDS - PROGRAMMING EXPENSES
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is known to take shelter pets in the worst situations:
the pregnant, the medically complicated, the permanently injured, the elderly and
the catastrophic diseased. These are the pets that will be euthanized first at a
county shelter.
In 2011, Angels Rescue pet medical related expenses totaled $400,000. Today, in 2016,
Angels Rescue spends over $3 million a year in pet medical related expenses.
Every dog or cat rescued from the shelter is immediately admitted to one of the
Angels Rescue partner veterinarians in the Atlanta metro area. This ‘Intake Vet’ does
a complete evaluation then cleans the pet and provides proper vaccinations. If the pet
has a life-threatening health issue or is in need of a specialist for surgery or further
evaluation, transport is made available to a 24-hour care partner veterinarian specialist.
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue does not operate a facility; pets recover in foster homes
once cleared by the veterinarian.
PROGRAMMING EXPENSES
Transportation:
Angels Rescue has one transport van, the Angels Mobile, but is in need of another
equipped vehicle to move pets and supplies. Beyond a regular transport van there is
an opportunity to purchase the Atlanta Animal Ambulance, which is equipped with
medically necessary items like oxygen.
Heartworm Treatment:
60% of all dogs rescued are heartworm positive meaning they have the ravishing worms
that attack major organs and tissues. Heartworms are spread to dogs through mosquito’s,
which are prevalent in the south. The small thread-like worm can reside in the lung arteries
as well as the heart causing congestive heart failure. However, with immediate treatment,
almost all dogs can recover fully and go on to live long and happy lives. Tragically, many
animals are euthanized immediately in shelters if they test positive for heartworms because
of the costly treatment. Heartworm treatments cost an average of $500 per dog.
Parvo Treatment:
Canine Parvovirus (commonly known as parvo), is a highly contagious viral disease that
typically affects puppies. Parvo is caused by direct contact with an infected dog or by
fecal-oral route – a dog sniffing an infected dogs stool or coming in contact with infected
feces. The virus can live in ground soil for many months. The virus can be brought into
the dog’s environment by way of shoes. And this virus is resilient to most cleaning products.
Parvo is the leading cause of death for puppies. It is a dreadful condition that includes
severe bloody diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss, lethargy and fever. The affected pet
becomes dehydrated and weak quickly.
While there is a vaccine that can prevent the deadly illness, county shelters will euthanize
puppies that test positive for Parvo because of the expensive treatment and accessibility
for transmission. The cost of keeping isolated and then the treatment can be $500 to
$2000 per dose. In fact, shelters are typically mandated to shut down for weeks, if there
is a Parvo outbreak in their facility.
But Angels Rescue has a 96% heal rate with the Parvo infected puppies, an incredible
result for the pet rescue world!

Balthazar
Found near death on the side of a
busy highway in downtown Atlanta,
Balthazar’s body was lifeless when
animal control officers found him.
His wounds were consistent with an
animal who had been used routinely
as a bait dog and his prognosis was
dismal. Multiple lacerations,
fractures, infections, and a crippling
case of mange all worked against
this gentle giant. Despite unthink-
able pain, his love of humans never
wavered. With extensive love, care,
and concern, as well as months of
first-class medical intervention,
Balthazar made a full recovery and
now enjoys an incredible forever
home where he is adored.
PROGRAMMING EXPENSES
Spay and Neuter Education:
Pet overpopulation is the problem nationally but systemic in warmer states like Georgia.
County shelters are at capacity, which is why they must euthanize animals.
One unaltered female dog can produce over 36 puppies in her reproductive life.
In only six years, a female dog and her offspring can reproduce 67,000 dogs! One
unaltered female cat can have more than 100 kittens in her reproductive life. A single
pair of cats and their kittens could produce as many as 370,000 kittens in 7 years.
If not roaming the streets, these unwanted litters are dropped at government shelters
across the country.
There is a simple fix – Spay or Neuter pets! All Angels Rescue pets are spayed or neutered
prior to adoption at a cost of about $120 per pet. But it doesn’t stop there. Angels Rescue
is committed to the public education and facilitating free spay and neuter clinics.
Boarding and Training:
Angels Rescue is committed to socializing and stabilizing the abused, neglected and
traumatized dogs that are rescued from county shelters in Georgia. Professional training
has proven to be an incredible way to help restore a sense of physical and emotional balance
to these dogs, giving them a leg-up on a long and happy future life with their adoptive family.
That professional training may include with a short-term boarding situation for aggressive
dogs. It may also extend to foster home visits with a professional dog trainer.
Licenses and Fees:
Pets are property the United States and Georgia has strict regulations set up by the
Department of Agriculture. For instance, a pet must be ‘released’ to a rescue corporation
by the police (government shelters) for proper exchange of ownership. This would include
‘stray’ animals.
All pets are licensed and required to have certain vaccinations like distemper (rabies)
administered by a veterinarian. Even owner surrender pets must show vet records for at
least 6 months to prove ownership, excluding puppies of course.
Managing the fees at the shelter level and the license and tags for each county can be
costly especially when you consider angel rescue manages over 600 animals daily.
Preventative Care:
Being in Georgia, flea, tick and heartworm preventatives are necessary. Angels Rescue provides these prevents monthly to all
dogs and cats in the system. The monthly administration of prevents is managed and tracked by Angels Rescue. So there is a
crucial need for donated product or funding of prevents to maintain the critical healthcare of our pets.
Pet Supplies:
Angels Rescue does not have a physical office or facility. In fact, we believe dogs and cats make better pets in homes rather
than shelter facilities. But without a facility, Angels Rescue must pay for storage and consider the transportation to events or
between vetting facilities.
Other Supply Needs:
Event supplies like tents, tables, signs and office materials for weekly adoption events.
Puppy supplies like towels, pads, bottles, pins, blankets, gates, and bedding. Note that puppies can easily cost a foster
$300 in materials.
Regular Pet supplies like crates, pins, gates, collars, leashes and food.
6
WHY DONATIONS MATTER...
County animal control shelters euthanize 300,000 dogs and cats in Georgia each year. Millions are euthanized around the
country. Public education is necessary to reduce the unwanted pet population in Georgia.
Tax-deductible contributions enable Angels Among Us Pet Rescue to rescue dogs and cats who are at risk of being eutha-
nized in high-kill shelters throughout the state of Georgia. Most of these animals find their lives in jeopardy due to no fault
of their own.
Donations support:
• “Freedom Ride” - shelter to foster
• Full intake vetting
• Shots, spay/neuter, and medications
• Heartworm treatments (if needed)
• Rehabilitative training (if needed)
• Surgeries and antibiotics (as necessary)
• Recovery in a loving foster home
• Placement in a pre-approved forever home
THE SAD REALITY
• Hundreds of highly-adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized every week in shelters
throughout the state of Georgia due to injury, illness, or lack of space.
• Pet over-population is a vast and alarming problem affecting communities all across America,
including Georgia.
• Some shelters in metro Atlanta still euthanize using a heart stick.
• Owner Surrender Dogs and Cats euthanized first at shelters, often just hours after being
dropped off.

ANGELS SOCIAL MEDIA METRICS MONTHLY WEBSITE METRICS National Media Coverage of Kala and Keira 1,000,000 Facebook Fans! 4,500 Twitter Followers 30,000 Instagram Followers 85,000 Email Subscribers 3 In 2015, Angels Among Us Pet Rescue gained national attention with the rescue of Kala and Keira, the Hugging Dogs. It started with a social media cry for help from Kala: “If no one saves us, someone will take her away from me… We have to have someone rescue us or we'll be next.” Written from the dogs perspective, Angels Rescue, had just 2 hours to gain a foster and funding to rescue Kala, an 11-month-old hound mix, and Keira, a 1-year-old boxer mix. “We’ve comforted each other while we were here,” Kala continued in the Facebook post. Then the public saw the photo of these two dogs hugging each other behind the shelter bars. The post explained that Kala and Keira were in a shelter and scheduled to be put to sleep: “Today is their last day unless we can save them.” In just 2 hours and 6 minutes the Hugging Dogs had a foster. By the next morning news organization from Tel Aviv to New York were calling for interviews and that afternoon the AngelsRescue.org website crashed! The national coverage gave the organization our most famous dogs. Today, the Hugging Dogs are adopted and living happily in the Atlanta area. • 4. 4 YOUR DONATIONS AT WORK Myah Myah is one of the worst cases of neglect and over-breeding that we have ever seen. Tossed out like garbage, she was brought into animal control when she was well beyond her breeding prime. We learned she had only ever lived outdoors, was never given any sort of flea or tick prevents, and was frightfully thin. Her skin was raw and oozing from mites and mange. Her recovery took months of medicated baths, compassionate trust building, and unconditional love. Today, Myah has a choice of many dog beds, although she prefers to reside on fluffy carpet in the living room, near her humans. FUNDING NEEDS - PROGRAMMING EXPENSES Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is known to take shelter pets in the worst situations: the pregnant, the medically complicated, the permanently injured, the elderly and the catastrophic diseased. These are the pets that will be euthanized first at a county shelter. In 2011, Angels Rescue pet medical related expenses totaled $400,000. Today, in 2016, Angels Rescue spends over $3 million a year in pet medical related expenses. Every dog or cat rescued from the shelter is immediately admitted to one of the Angels Rescue partner veterinarians in the Atlanta metro area. This ‘Intake Vet’ does a complete evaluation then cleans the pet and provides proper vaccinations. If the pet has a life-threatening health issue or is in need of a specialist for surgery or further evaluation, transport is made available to a 24-hour care partner veterinarian specialist. Angels Among Us Pet Rescue does not operate a facility; pets recover in foster homes once cleared by the veterinarian. PROGRAMMING EXPENSES Transportation: Angels Rescue has one transport van, the Angels Mobile, but is in need of another equipped vehicle to move pets and supplies. Beyond a regular transport van there is an opportunity to purchase the Atlanta Animal Ambulance, which is equipped with medically necessary items like oxygen. Heartworm Treatment: 60% of all dogs rescued are heartworm positive meaning they have the ravishing worms that attack major organs and tissues. Heartworms are spread to dogs through mosquito’s, which are prevalent in the south. The small thread-like worm can reside in the lung arteries as well as the heart causing congestive heart failure. However, with immediate treatment, almost all dogs can recover fully and go on to live long and happy lives. Tragically, many animals are euthanized immediately in shelters if they test positive for heartworms because of the costly treatment. Heartworm treatments cost an average of $500 per dog. Parvo Treatment: Canine Parvovirus (commonly known as parvo), is a highly contagious viral disease that typically affects puppies. Parvo is caused by direct contact with an infected dog or by fecal-oral route – a dog sniffing an infected dogs stool or coming in contact with infected feces. The virus can live in ground soil for many months. The virus can be brought into the dog’s environment by way of shoes. And this virus is resilient to most cleaning products. Parvo is the leading cause of death for puppies. It is a dreadful condition that includes severe bloody diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss, lethargy and fever. The affected pet becomes dehydrated and weak quickly. While there is a vaccine that can prevent the deadly illness, county shelters will euthanize puppies that test positive for Parvo because of the expensive treatment and accessibility for transmission. The cost of keeping isolated and then the treatment can be $500 to $2000 per dose. In fact, shelters are typically mandated to shut down for weeks, if there is a Parvo outbreak in their facility. But Angels Rescue has a 96% heal rate with the Parvo infected puppies, an incredible result for the pet rescue world!
  • 5. 5 YOUR DONATIONS AT WORK Balthazar Found near death on the side of a busy highway in downtown Atlanta, Balthazar’s body was lifeless when animal control officers found him. His wounds were consistent with an animal who had been used routinely as a bait dog and his prognosis was dismal. Multiple lacerations, fractures, infections, and a crippling case of mange all worked against this gentle giant. Despite unthink- able pain, his love of humans never wavered. With extensive love, care, and concern, as well as months of first-class medical intervention, Balthazar made a full recovery and now enjoys an incredible forever home where he is adored. PROGRAMMING EXPENSES Spay and Neuter Education: Pet overpopulation is the problem nationally but systemic in warmer states like Georgia. County shelters are at capacity, which is why they must euthanize animals. One unaltered female dog can produce over 36 puppies in her reproductive life. In only six years, a female dog and her offspring can reproduce 67,000 dogs! One unaltered female cat can have more than 100 kittens in her reproductive life. A single pair of cats and their kittens could produce as many as 370,000 kittens in 7 years. If not roaming the streets, these unwanted litters are dropped at government shelters across the country. There is a simple fix – Spay or Neuter pets! All Angels Rescue pets are spayed or neutered prior to adoption at a cost of about $120 per pet. But it doesn’t stop there. Angels Rescue is committed to the public education and facilitating free spay and neuter clinics. Boarding and Training: Angels Rescue is committed to socializing and stabilizing the abused, neglected and traumatized dogs that are rescued from county shelters in Georgia. Professional training has proven to be an incredible way to help restore a sense of physical and emotional balance to these dogs, giving them a leg-up on a long and happy future life with their adoptive family. That professional training may include with a short-term boarding situation for aggressive dogs. It may also extend to foster home visits with a professional dog trainer. Licenses and Fees: Pets are property the United States and Georgia has strict regulations set up by the Department of Agriculture. For instance, a pet must be ‘released’ to a rescue corporation by the police (government shelters) for proper exchange of ownership. This would include ‘stray’ animals. All pets are licensed and required to have certain vaccinations like distemper (rabies) administered by a veterinarian. Even owner surrender pets must show vet records for at least 6 months to prove ownership, excluding puppies of course. Managing the fees at the shelter level and the license and tags for each county can be costly especially when you consider angel rescue manages over 600 animals daily. Preventative Care: Being in Georgia, flea, tick and heartworm preventatives are necessary. Angels Rescue provides these prevents monthly to all dogs and cats in the system. The monthly administration of prevents is managed and tracked by Angels Rescue. So there is a crucial need for donated product or funding of prevents to maintain the critical healthcare of our pets. Pet Supplies: Angels Rescue does not have a physical office or facility. In fact, we believe dogs and cats make better pets in homes rather than shelter facilities. But without a facility, Angels Rescue must pay for storage and consider the transportation to events or between vetting facilities. Other Supply Needs: Event supplies like tents, tables, signs and office materials for weekly adoption events. Puppy supplies like towels, pads, bottles, pins, blankets, gates, and bedding. Note that puppies can easily cost a foster $300 in materials. Regular Pet supplies like crates, pins, gates, collars, leashes and food.
  • 6. 6 WHY DONATIONS MATTER... County animal control shelters euthanize 300,000 dogs and cats in Georgia each year. Millions are euthanized around the country. Public education is necessary to reduce the unwanted pet population in Georgia. Tax-deductible contributions enable Angels Among Us Pet Rescue to rescue dogs and cats who are at risk of being eutha- nized in high-kill shelters throughout the state of Georgia. Most of these animals find their lives in jeopardy due to no fault of their own. Donations support: • “Freedom Ride” - shelter to foster • Full intake vetting • Shots, spay/neuter, and medications • Heartworm treatments (if needed) • Rehabilitative training (if needed) • Surgeries and antibiotics (as necessary) • Recovery in a loving foster home • Placement in a pre-approved forever home THE SAD REALITY • Hundreds of highly-adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized every week in shelters throughout the state of Georgia due to injury, illness, or lack of space. • Pet over-population is a vast and alarming problem affecting communities all across America, including Georgia. • Some shelters in metro Atlanta still euthanize using a heart stick. • Owner Surrender Dogs and Cats euthanized first at shelters, often just hours after being dropped off.
