Showing Up
Possible issues with Google Reviews
• We have had some clients talk to us lately about legitimate reviews that got on their Google My
Business profile that just are not showing up or they disappeared
• There are tons of people online who are complaining about the same thing
• Here are some possibilities:
• Due to staff shortages from the COVID-19 pandemic, Google was not supporting reviews and other Google My
Business features for a couple of months
• Incorrect listing information can not only hurt your SEO, but it can also reduce the number of reviews that
your business gets from customers
• Check to see if there are duplicate Google My Business listings for your business. In this case, it’s possible that
a customer posted a review on the duplicate listing
• Google has said that it would unverify businesses that were inactive on Google My Business for more than 6
months. It might be possible that your reviews are not showing up because your business is unverified
• If a review comes from a current or former employee, it will be deleted since they come from a biased point
of view
• Google does not allow reviewers to post reviews with links and URLs to other websites
• If you’ve been paying for or incentivizing reviews, you will have your reviews deleted
• It’s also possible that for whatever reason, the customer decided to delete their own Google review
Here is what you can do to fix it
• If you have Inaccurate Listing Information, here’s how you can refresh
your Google My Business listing.
• Go to the “Info” section in your GMB profile.
• Click on the icon next to your listing address.
• This pop-up icon should come up. Wiggle the map icon, but make sure that it
settles in the right location.
• When you’re done, hit “Apply”.
• If you have a Duplicate Business Listing make sure that the duplicate
business listing is deleted immediately
• If you have an inactive listing, contact Google support to reverify your
business

How To Remove Google Reviews
1. Check your Google accounts for reviews
• Go to business.google.com to sign into your Google Business Account. If you
have multiple businesses linked on Google, you may need to click Manage My
Accounts to ensure you’re managing the correct business account
• Click the Reviews tab
2. Evaluate the reviews
3. Respond to each review appropriately
• Instead of letting negative (and positive) Google Reviews just sit on your
business listing, you need to do something about them
• When responding to negative reviews, remember to acknowledge the issue,
explain your side if necessary, and make things right with the reviewer
4. Flag fake reviews for removal
i. Open Google Maps, and search for your business
ii. Once you click on your business name, beneath your star rating, you’ll see the total
number of reviews your company has on Google.
iii. Click that. (It usually looks like 31 reviews)
iv. Find the review you want to flag.
v. Click the three vertical dots in the upper-righthand corner of the review.
vi. An option to “Flag as inappropriate” will pop up; click it to flag the review.
5. Report review to Google Small Business support
• https://support.google.com/business
6. Get more positive reviews
• After flagging and handling the fake and negative reviews on your Google Business
account, it’s time to start getting some positivity flowing again!
• One of the best ways to move on from bad reviews is to simply set out to collect more
positive reviews

• Leave Behind a Leave-Behind
• A leave-behind is a piece of marketing collateral that you leave at your
customers’ property, like a Google review card. These tend to be more
popular with contractors or local service companies.
• Add a Review Link to Your Website to Get More Google Reviews

Possible issues with Google Reviews • We have had some clients talk to us lately about legitimate reviews that got on their Google My Business profile that just are not showing up or they disappeared • There are tons of people online who are complaining about the same thing • Here are some possibilities: • Due to staff shortages from the COVID-19 pandemic, Google was not supporting reviews and other Google My Business features for a couple of months • Incorrect listing information can not only hurt your SEO, but it can also reduce the number of reviews that your business gets from customers • Check to see if there are duplicate Google My Business listings for your business. In this case, it’s possible that a customer posted a review on the duplicate listing • Google has said that it would unverify businesses that were inactive on Google My Business for more than 6 months. It might be possible that your reviews are not showing up because your business is unverified • If a review comes from a current or former employee, it will be deleted since they come from a biased point of view • Google does not allow reviewers to post reviews with links and URLs to other websites • If you’ve been paying for or incentivizing reviews, you will have your reviews deleted • It’s also possible that for whatever reason, the customer decided to delete their own Google review

Here is what you can do to fix it • If you have Inaccurate Listing Information, here’s how you can refresh your Google My Business listing. • Go to the “Info” section in your GMB profile. • Click on the icon next to your listing address. • This pop-up icon should come up. Wiggle the map icon, but make sure that it settles in the right location. • When you’re done, hit “Apply”. • If you have a Duplicate Business Listing make sure that the duplicate business listing is deleted immediately • If you have an inactive listing, contact Google support to reverify your business

  • 12. How To Remove Google Reviews 1. Check your Google accounts for reviews • Go to business.google.com to sign into your Google Business Account. If you have multiple businesses linked on Google, you may need to click Manage My Accounts to ensure you’re managing the correct business account • Click the Reviews tab 2. Evaluate the reviews 3. Respond to each review appropriately • Instead of letting negative (and positive) Google Reviews just sit on your business listing, you need to do something about them • When responding to negative reviews, remember to acknowledge the issue, explain your side if necessary, and make things right with the reviewer
  • 13. 4. Flag fake reviews for removal i. Open Google Maps, and search for your business ii. Once you click on your business name, beneath your star rating, you’ll see the total number of reviews your company has on Google. iii. Click that. (It usually looks like 31 reviews) iv. Find the review you want to flag. v. Click the three vertical dots in the upper-righthand corner of the review. vi. An option to “Flag as inappropriate” will pop up; click it to flag the review. 5. Report review to Google Small Business support • https://support.google.com/business 6. Get more positive reviews • After flagging and handling the fake and negative reviews on your Google Business account, it’s time to start getting some positivity flowing again! • One of the best ways to move on from bad reviews is to simply set out to collect more positive reviews
