Patrick was a young boy from France who was kidnapped by pirates and brought to Ireland as a slave. He lived a lonely life minding sheep and pigs with little food. Patrick had dreams calling him to become a priest, so he went to France and later returned to Ireland as a bishop to teach people about God. He is credited with driving snakes from Ireland and is the patron saint celebrated there on March 17th.
