2. The production of linen is majorly based on growing procedures of the flax plant. The plant is pulled
out of the ground and the Fibers are loosened from the stalk via the retting process. The seeds are
also removed through the winnowing process.
After winnowing and retting, the woody part of the plant stalk is crushed between two rollers, leaving
the fibers exposed. This removes the shorter fibers so that only the desirable flax fibers are left
behind. This process is known as Scutching.
However, the word ‘linens’ now refers to any fabric that is used for bedding or tablecloths. Let’s have

Polyester
Polyester tablecloths are one of the most important linen products made from polyester fibers. This

Cotton is another table linen fabric which is widely used. Being soft and absorbent, it can soak up any

Burlap linens are made from the skin of the jute plant. Being coarse, environmentally friendly, 100%
bio-degradable, it is loved and appreciated by nature lovers. It is an essential element of rustic home
décor.
