Open Educational Resources (OERs) can help address the lack of access to secondary education in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). While primary education enrollment has increased, secondary enrollment remains low at 30% compared to the world average of 65%. As governments expand primary education to meet Millennium Development Goals, secondary education expansion will likely not be a priority due to limited resources. Open schooling and OERs distributed online or offline on CD/DVD can help increase access to low-cost secondary education materials for millions of students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to learn. However, developing high-quality OERs requires building teachers' capacity through professional development on using technology and resources effectively in the classroom.

The Paradigm Shift in the Indian Education System during COVID19: Impact, Opp...Dr. Amarjeet Singh
The COVID-19 pandemic is a huge challenge to education systems. Education is the main priority direction and main development indicator in all civilized countries of the world. The COVID-19 global pandemic has upended all the education system across the world. In this time of crisis, a well-rounded and effective educational practice is what is needed for the capacity-building of young minds. It will develop skills that will drive their employability, productivity, health, and well-being in the decades to come, and ensure the overall progress of India. This research paper tries to investigate on the various impact of Covid-19 in education system especially on rural India. We also try to throw light on the different existing and new initiatives by government during the pandemic. The novel coronavirus has transformed the centuries-old, chalk–talk teaching model to one driven by technology. The last 50 years have seen huge growth worldwide in the provision of education at all levels. COVID-19 is the greatest challenge that these expanded national education systems have ever faced. Many governments have ordered institutions to cease face-to-face instruction for most of their students, requiring them to switch, almost overnight, to online teaching and virtual education. We see a drastic rise in the use of various teaching and conferencing technologies which has been explained in this paper, also various advantages and disadvantages to the students in the use of these technologies have been covered in this research paper by identifying opportunities and trends. Finally research has been concluded by providing avenues to future research and a meaningful conclusion.

This report includes around 460 education policy developments (with evidence of progress or impact for over 200 of them) spanning from early childhood education and care to higher education and lifelong learning on topics related to school improvement, evaluation and assessment, governance and funding. It looks into “what is being done”, as well as “why and how it works” to help education systems gain better understanding of how policies can have greater opportunities of success in their specific contexts.
Poland has above average student performance on the PISA exam and average equity in education. While Poland has a high percentage of top performing students, it also has a larger than average percentage of low performers. Additionally, socioeconomic status has an average impact on student performance in mathematics. The document discusses the impact of COVID-19 on India's education system. It led to the closure of schools and shift to online learning, which created difficulties for both teachers and students due to lack of resources and infrastructure. It impacted assessments, admissions, and the job prospects of recent graduates. While online learning helps improve digital skills, it is not as effective as traditional learning and has created greater disparities. Overall, the pandemic highlighted the need for greater investment in education to support online learning and better prepare for future crises.

Taking the perspective of institutions and the system, Education Policy Outlook 2019: Working Together to Help Students Achieve their Potential, analyses the evolution of key education priorities and key education policies in 43 education systems. It compares more recent developments in education policy ecosystems (mainly between 2015 and 2019) with various education policies adopted between 2008 and 2014.
Recent reforms aim to improve equity by increasing access to early childhood education, especially in rural areas.

#StopBigTechGoverningBigTech: More than 170 Civil Society Groups Worldwide Oppose Plans for a
Big Tech Dominated Body for Global Digital Governance.
Not only in developing countries but also in the US and EU, calls for stronger regulation of Big Tech
are rising. At the precise point when we should be shaping global norms to regulate Big Tech, plans
have emerged for an ‘empowered’ global digital governance body that will evidently be dominated
by Big Tech. Adding vastly to its already overweening power, this new Body would help Big Tech
resist effective regulation, globally and at national levels. Indeed, we face the unbelievable prospect
of ‘a Big Tech led body for Global Governance of Big Tech’.
