Scaling Agile in Regulated Environments: Addressing the Challenges of Complia...Cprime
Engineering tomorrow’s products means keeping ahead and staying relevant in a constantly and rapidly changing environment.
A core characteristic of regulated environments is the necessity to comply with formal standards, regulations, directives and guidance. Organizations must demonstrate that their system meets its intended purpose and has no unintended consequences that might cause harm. They must also develop the objective evidence required to prove that the system conforms to regulatory standards.
The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) addresses the conceptual and process incompatibilities between systems and software. By selecting the right ‘hooks’ in the Scaled Agile Framework, you can achieve high maturity levels for various reference models (Automotive Spice, CMMI, etc.).
In this webinar, we will highlight how to ensure compliance when implementing SAFe in regulated industries and present a recent case study in the Automotive industry.
In this webinar, we will:
· Explore how compliance can be achieved, maintained and proven to regulators.
· Introduce the concepts and practices of Applied SAFe.
· Share a case study for Automotive SPICE 3.0
If you wish to combine agility and efficiency together with compliance to regulatory requirements (both specific reference models, such as SPICE 3.0, as well as your own organization’s reference models), this webinar is well worth your time.

Software QA Metrics Dashboard BenchmarkingJohn Carter
Software metrics best practices from a benchmarking assignment that indicates how software metrics are reported to management and used to drive behavior. We learned how leading companies used dashboards to report on quality progress and improvement results. We found the best organizations focused on the vital few metrics but also had automated systems with the ability to drill down on metrics at the divisional and team levels. In addition, the best normalized the metrics by number of customers or complexity. They systematically used root cause analysis to analyze bugs in the field. The SW Quality metrics often went beyond the strict definition of quality in that they also measured release predictability and feature expectations. Finally, the best companies used external benchmarks to set their quality targets.

A couple years ago, a company I was working with, asked me to share with them the use cases and benefits of Scrum. It must have really sparked the management’s interest as they asked me to come up with an Agile implementation strategy for the company. This is the presentation I would like to share with you as I believe many curious, mid size, web development shops out there might be seriously thinking about adopting Agile or some hybrid form to supplement their Waterfall process.
A model for changing company culture, practice and outcomes using a product experience focus.
Product managers often spend so much time managing the day-to-day requirements of meeting customer needs, delivering to their roadmap and competing, they don't have time to do the strategic work needed to grow their products over the long-term. This model, by focusing on the product experience and distributing accountability across the company, allows product managers to reclaim the time needed to plan and deliver strategic action.

Challenges for Industrial-strength Information Retrieval on DatabasesArjen de Vries
Presentation for the KARS 2017 paper on Spinque technology:
Implementing keyword search and other IR tasks on top of relational engines has become viable in practice, especially thanks to high-performance column-store technology. Supporting complex combinations of structured and unstructured search in real-world heterogeneous data spaces however requires more than “just” IR-on-DB. In this work, we walk the reader through our industrial-strength solution to this challenge and its application to a real-world scenario.
By treating structured and unstructured search as first-class citizens of the same computational platform, much of the integration effort is pushed from the application level down to the data-management level. Combined with a visual design environment, this allows to model complex search engines without a need for programming.

Developing an Agile Approach: Why Adaptability Will Be Key for Competitive Ma...Marsden Marketing
Agile Marketing borrows from software development to help companies adapt and respond more quickly, as the needs and interests of prospects and customers evolve. Instead of developing deliverables in a traditional, linear fashion, Agile marketers conduct a series of sprints and review, adjust and reprioritize work based on results. Agile is a data-driven approach to marketing prioritization and rapid adjustments.
A high level conversation with the CIOMajlis in Dubai on how Agile Transformation (Real & Fake) are an opportunity for CIOs to build collaboration within the CEO Office and drive transformation in a post-industrial age.
As VUCA becomes the norm, the smart leaders are able to realise the power of collaboration across functions and set their eyes fully on delighting the customer. the core customer.
CIOs can drive the transformation from industrial aged thinking and executing to the digital agile era by introducing to their peers pure play Agile Tools such as Scrum & Kanban Boards to drive OKRs of the C-suite; applying Agile rituals into the C-Suite to drive faster smarter decisions and collaborations, and by systematically applying Alex Osterwalder's Value Proposition Canvas & Business Model Canvas within the Lean Start Up and/or Design Thinking approaches so that CEOs & their leadership teams can ship product and services that customers actual want and will pay for.
The Fake Agile is simply when the centre of the business' universe is not delighting the customer, where shareholder values still dominate strategic initiatives. This customer first mindset, triggered by the late Peter Drucker, may well be some years away.
Oh yeah, I know, that's a heck of a mouthful of tools I'm throwing in there, but if you are truly going to transform to the digital age you have to STOP doing a lot of useless 'stuff'.
A big thank you to Steve Denning, Alex Osterwalder, Steve Blank, Jeff Sutherland and my close friend and partner for all large scale agile transformations at Wemanity Are Van Bennekum for providing content and guidance on my journey and mission to hep entrepreneurs turn their vision into reality. Agile software development methodology is sweeping the IT Industry. Many organizations are experimenting with Agility and there are many “brands” of Agile including Scrum, XP, Lean, Crystal Clear and DSDM. Adoption of one of these methodologies could be wholesale in the case of a small well defined project that has no dependencies on other projects and can be completely delivered by a trained and motivated team. As these types of adoptions are rare organizations are looking for ways to ease into Agile practices without losing productivity.
This session is designed to discuss and identify ways that agile enablers can facilitate the transition to Agile practices. Participants learn basic Agile practices as well as techniques for introducing them to the software delivery team. This session will present common software delivery problems and the Agile path to solutions.
Is customer centricity just another management fad? Globally, companies are investing more than USD 10 billion annually to drive customer centric transformations, yet four in five are left unsatisfied.

6. What
Keeps
a
CFO
Up
at
Night?
“We’re
not
innovating
fast
enough
to
keep
up
with
the
competition.
We
may
be
left
behind.”
“I
have
no
real
picture
of
execution
risks until
they
are
upon
us”.
“Every
missed
delivery
has
downstream
ramifications
across
my
firm,
to
the
customer
and
all
the
way
to
the
P&L”.
“The
delivery
teams
are
agile,
but
I
don’t
know
what
they’re
really
working
on.
Is
our
strategy
connected
to
execution?”
“Our
customers
complain
about
quality being
poor,
which
not
only
hurts
customer
sat
but
also
hurts
revenue/ROI”.
“I
want
to
optimize
our
portfolio
and
invest
in
the
highest
ROI
opportunities
and drive
competitive
advantage,
but
it’s
hard
to
know
which
projects
we
have
the
capacity
to
deliver”.
