The document discusses the concept of revitalization. It states that revitalization restores built places and natural areas, reconnects natural pathways, and reinvigorates local economies. This makes it an economic growth strategy that enhances an area's character by providing cleaner air and water and rebuilding infrastructure, creating jobs. The Revitalization Institute is an academic network that works to share best practices in restorative development and provide training. Its goal is to undertake projects in the GTA that build renewal culture and provide education to policymakers.

Emerald Cities Los Angeles explains how cities can incorporate equity into these activities. New Orleans describes their energy efficiency workforce development programs with many local partners. Boston shares stories about its municipal building operator training program.
A recording of the webinar can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/user/ACEEEDC
This session focuses on recognizing community needs outside the academic environment that allow the institution to creatively develop strategies to facilitate program development and funding. By broadening the concept of the communities served, four exemplary institutions have achieved national stature as resources for government training programs (STEMP), promoting community environmental activism, facilitating lifelong learning, and blurring the line between academic and community environments.

For The second time, the international Conference “Resilient and Responsible Architecture and Urbanism” Will take place this time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from the 15th to the 17th of July 2019.
Our attitudes, business models, products, services and actions related to the design, build, maintenance and transformation of our Built Environments have to change fundamentally. New build, renovation, and restoration projects increasingly focus on energy efficiency, renewable energy generation, sustainable building, water management and resource efficiency. This is not so strange when you consider the implications of a growing global population and rise in living standards. More and more resources will be necessary to meet global demand.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

1. The Revitalization Agenda
Revitalization is the “sweet spot of sustainability”.
It restores the quality of built places, reconnects natural pathways,
and re-invigorates local economies. It is not a greening strategy
which despite its merit often simply slows the rate of environmental
decline. It is an economic growth strategy enhancing an area’s
fundamental character, by providing cleaner air and water, adding to
the stock of resilient eco system services, and re-building the quality
and functionality of the built heritage. It is a job creation strategy
based on permanent sustainability because it is embedded in local
realities, and provides investors with confidence by demonstrating
that a Municipality is going in the right direction.
2. • "However difficult it is to pull an economy
out of recession, that is nothing compared
to the impossibility of lowering sea levels,
preventing hurricanes and eliminating
huge deserts once irreversible climate
change has taken place"

if only – these are ideas in progress towards answers – we are
engaging our students in a process of Socratic combativeness
“If the physical environment is the earth, the world of ideas corresponds
to the heavens. We sleep under the light of stars that have long
since ceased to exist, and we pattern our behaviour by ideas which
have no reality as soon as we cease to credit them.”
- Lewis Mumford
