Pay is always an issue as the amount of work and the dangers
that officers can face, they are not compensated enough

5. From the critical issues listed above, what do you think are
the trends for Corrections?
The only major issue is working hours as there are times when
you have to come in early and leave very late in order to meet
deadlines on caseloads.

5. From the critical issues listed above, what do you think are
the trends for Corrections?
Overcrowding and safety play a major role in trends for
correction as it can cause a situation that is not conducive to the
safety of
staff or inmates. It makes the workload strenuous for the
officers which could cause careless mistakes when handling
inmates. Training is always an issue because without training,
mistakes can be made that could be costly and fatal. Pay is
always an issue for law enforcement officers in the jail because
of the type of work that they do and some offices feel that they
are overworked and underpaid. It is a dangerous job.

5. From the critical issues listed above, what do you think are
the trends for Corrections?
Training is a critical issue because without on-going training
and keeping abreast of new ideas, technology and current jail
Issues, staff could fall short of providing effective safety and
security measures. Retention is also an issue for staff because
They become complacent in their duties which can also affect
the safety and security of the facility

5. From the critical issues listed above, what do you think are
the trends for Corrections?
The trends for corrections are that there need to be more
training for staff in order for them to be able to handle inmates
from all walks of life. Also overcrowding can cause a strain on
the staff which could potentially make it difficult
for them to do their jobs efficiently. Employees feel that for the
type of work that they do, they are not getting
paid enough as it is a dangerous job. Safety is very important in
the jail because people can get hurt. There should be more
resources and again on-going training.
Thank you for your participation!

  • 35. 5. From the critical issues listed above, what do you think are the trends for Corrections? The trends for corrections are that there need to be more training for staff in order for them to be able to handle inmates from all walks of life. Also overcrowding can cause a strain on the staff which could potentially make it difficult for them to do their jobs efficiently. Employees feel that for the type of work that they do, they are not getting paid enough as it is a dangerous job. Safety is very important in the jail because people can get hurt. There should be more resources and again on-going training. Thank you for your participation!
