This document provides an overview of pre-Spanish literature from the Philippines. It discusses the main genres of prose and poetry that existed during this period, including folktales, epics, sayings, riddles, and chants. As examples, it provides summaries of two folktales - one explaining why the sea is salty, and an epic story about the brothers Indarapatra and Sulayman who defeat monsters plaguing the land of Mindanao.
