 Person + is/am/are + verb ing + complement
 They are doing their homework now.
 She is driving her car at the moment

6. Negative
 Person + isn’t(is not)/am not /aren’t(are not)
+verb ing + complement
They aren’t doing their homework now.
She isn’t driving her car at the moment.

7. Interrogative
 (Wh)
+ is/am/are + person + verb ing +
complement
Are they doing their homework now?
Is she driving her car at the moment?
What are you doing?

8. Spelling rules
Most verbs add ing with no change.
Verb + ing
Walk  walking
Talk  talking
Wash  washing
Clean  cleaning

9.  When a verb finishes in “e” take out the “e”
and add ing.
 Create  creating
 Activate  activating
 Concentrate  concentrating
 Irregular: Lie  lying
Die  dying

10.  When a verb ends in consonant + stressed
vowel + consonant, double the last consonat
 Swim  swimming
 Run  running
 Begin  beginning
 Stop  stopping
