The Periodic Table
    Taylor Meyer
      Period 6
Who Created It?

• The periodic table was
  created by Dmitri
  Mendeleev between
  1868 and 1870.
Why Was It Created?
       • Mendeleev was a
         professor and claimed
that he could not find a
         proper text book.
       • This was during the
         time when he came up
         with his chemical and
         physical theory.
       • He decided to develop a
         table of elements.
How Is It Organized?

• Each Horizontal row is a period.
• Each vertical row is a group.
• Every element in the same period or group
has something in common with the others.
• The elements are arranged in order from
  smallest atomic mass to largest.
Element Relationships
Metals Nonmetals
• Alkali Metals • Metalloids
• Alkaline Earth • Other Nonmetals
    Metals
• Lanthanoids • Halogens
• Actinoids • Noble Gases
• Transition Metals
• Post-Transition
