Frank Karlitschek proposes designing and building Linux PCs to increase marketshare of free software. He plans to launch Open-PC, a Linux computer available for 300-400 Euros, integrated with online services and supporting free software projects. Open-PC will ship in December 2009 with openSUSE, an Atom processor, 3GB RAM and 160GB HDD. The goal is to provide an affordable, high quality alternative to proprietary operating systems currently preinstalled on most PCs.
