2. Hypothesis
We predict that if we remove the forest
floor it would effect the layers because
there will not be any shrub layer, sub –
canopy layer, canopy layer and
emergent because they all grow from
the roots. It can also effect the insects
because the will not have have a place
to hid. It can also effect the birds
because they would not have as many
berries and insect for food.
3. Layers of
the bush
There are five layers of
the native bush. There is
the forest floor, shrub
layer, sub-canopy
,canopy and the
emergent .The emergent
gives shade to all the
other layers so its doesn’t
dry out.
4. Questions and
AnswerWhat would the birds eat if we took the
insects away?
The birds can eat leaves, berries and
fruit.
What insects live on the forest floor? On
the forest floor you can find ground
beetles, black field crickets and
cicadas.
What can you see on the forest floor?
On the forest floor you can find soil,
dead plants, animals and small plants
such as wild flowers.
5. Forest Floor
We learned a lot about the layers of the New
Zealand native bush. The bottom layer is
called the forest floor with has bark
,wildflowers and mushrooms if we removed
the forest floor it can effect the layers of the
bush the forest floor. The forest floor helps
the layers grow because the soil sucks in the
water and feeds it to the plants .
6. CONCLUISION
We predicted that if we removed the
forest floor it can impact on the layers of
the bush because they all grow from the
roots and if we took the forest floor away
all the layers would die because the
forest floor sucks in the water and feeds it
to the layers other whys it will die and we
were right
