WHO IS HENRIFAYOL?
Henri Fayol was a French industrialist, mining
engineer, executive, and director of mines.
Fayol together with fellow engineer Frederick
Winslow Taylor is considered a founder of
modern management. He developed the
general theory of business administration
which is often called “Fayolism.” He was a
theorist of business administration and gave a
set of fourteen principles of Management.

THE 14 MANAGEMENTPRINCIPLES OF
HENRI FAYOL
1. Division of Work: this is the principle of
specialization which is very well expressed
by economists as being a necessary factor
for efficiency in the utilization of labor.
2. Authority and Responsibility: in this
principle, Fayol conceives authority as a
combination of official authority deriving
from a manager’s official position and
personal authority, which is compounded of
intelligence, experience, moral worth, past
services etc.

3. Discipline: Holding the notion that
discipline is respect for agreements which
are directed as achieving obedience,
application, energy and the outward marks
of respect, Fayol declares that discipline
requires good superiors at all levels clear
and fair agreements and judicious
application of penalties.
4. Unity of Command: This is the principle,
which states that on employee should
receive orders from one superior only.
5.

5. Unity of Direction: According to Fayol, the
unity of direction principle implies that each
group of activities having the same objectives
must have one head and one plan. As
distinguished from the principle of unity of
command, Fayol perceives unity of direction as
related to the functioning of personnel.
6. Subordination of Individual Interest to
General Interest: In any group, the interest of
the group should supersede that of the
individual. When the interests differ, it is the
function of the management to reconcile them.

7. Remuneration of Personnel: Fayol perceives
that remuneration and methods of payment
should be fair and also should be able to afford
the maximum satisfaction to employee and
employer.
8. Centralization: although Fayol does not use
the term, Centralization of Authority, his
principle definitely refers to the extent to which
authority is concentrated or dispersed in on
enterprise. Individual circumstances determine
the degree of centralization that gives the best
overall yields.

HENRI FAYOL
9. Scalar Chain: Fayol thinks of the scalar chain
as a line of authority, a chain of superiors from
the highest to the lowest ranks. And, because it
is an error of a subordinate to depart needlessly
from the lines of authority, the chain should be
short-circuited.
10. Order: Breaking this principle into material
order and social order, Fayol thinks of it as a
simple edge for everything. This Organization is
the principle, which refers to arrangement of
things and persons in an organization.

HENRI FAYOL
11. Equity: Fayrol perceives this principle as
one of eliciting loyalty and devotion from
personnel with a combination of kindness and
justice in managers while dealing with
subordinates.
12. Stability of Tenure of Personnel: Finding
that instability is both the cause and effect of
bad management, Fayol points out the dangers
and costs of unnecessary turnover.
9.
THE 14 MANAGEMENTPRINCIPLES OF
HENRI FAYOL
13. Initiative: Initiative is conceived as the
process of thinking out and executing a plan.
Since it is one of the keenest satisfactions for an
intelligent man to experience, Fayol exhorts
managers to sacrifice personal vanity in order
to permit subordinates to exercise it.
14. Esprit de corps: This Principle implies that
union is strength and an extension of the
principle of unity of command. Fayol here
emphasizes on the need for teamwork and the
importance of communication in obtaining it.
10.

To provide us a detailed guidelines for managers.
Lets start with Division of Work: this is the principle of specialization which is very well expressed by economists as being a necessary factor for efficiency in the utilization of labor.
So as a manager para mapabilis or mapadali ang trabaho dapat hatiin mo yung work in specialize task, assign specific responsibility to individuals para mas ma utilize yung workforce at mas maging efficient.
The 2nd one is the Authority and Responsibility in this principle, Fayol conceives authority as a combination of official authority deriving from a manager’s official position and personal authority, which is compounded of intelligence, experience, moral worth, past services etc. kapag sinabi po nating authority as a Manager we have the right to give orders and the power to obtain obedience sa iyong mga empleyado.
#4 Now proceed na po tayo sa 3rd one - Discipline: Holding the notion that discipline is respect for agreements which are directed as achieving obedience, application, energy and the outward marks of respect, Fayol declares that discipline requires good superiors at all levels clear and fair agreements and judicious application of penalties. So pag sinabi naman po nating discipline kapag pinag uusapan ang disiplina in any organization, employees must obey and respect their rules that govern the organization, now pag di mo sinunod itong mga rules na ito maaring hindi ka magtatagal, for example if you don’t have the discipline to follow the rules mabibigyan ka ng sunction or worse bka matangal ka pa.
The 4th Management principles of Henri fayol is the Unity of Command: This is the principle, which states that on employee should receive orders from one superior only. Meaning po na ikaw as a employee should received commands form one superior. Kasi sa trabaho as part of the organization structure you have someone na Head mo or supervisor mo, na in that case siya lang ang susundin mo. Kc magiging magulo kung marami kang boss or marami kang sinusunod.
#5 Next principle po is Unity of Direction: According to Fayol, the unity of direction principle implies that each group of activities having the same objectives must have one head and one plan. As distinguished from the principle of unity of command, Fayol perceives unity of direction as related to the functioning of personnel. Dito namn sa unity of direction, kahit may ibat ibang department but when it comes to over all achievements ng the same organization na dapat iisa lang yung objectives. Since you are all working sa isang organization dapat po iisa lang yung goal.
The next or ang pang anim is Subordination of Individual Interest to General Interest: In any group, the interest of the group should supersede that of the individual. When the interests differ, it is the function of the management to reconcile them. In this principle naman po is your individual interest that conflicts with the organizational interest must be subordinated to the interest of the organization, kapag sinabi po kc nating subordinated it means we need to treat or regard our individual interest with a lesser importance than the interest of the organization. Na dapat mas nangingibabaw yung kapakanan ng organization kaysa sa panssarili mong kagustuhan or kapakanan.
#6 Pang pitong principle po is Remuneration of Personnel: Fayol perceives that remuneration and methods of payment should be fair and also should be able to afford the maximum satisfaction to employee and employer. Kapag sinabi po nating remuneration ito po yung perang ibinabayad sa serbisyong ginawas mo, in which sa 2nd principle ni fayrol the numeration or compensation for work done should be fair sa employee at employers.
The next one po is the Centralization : although Fayol does not use the term, Centralization of Authority, his principle definitely refers to the extent to which authority is concentrated or dispersed in on enterprise. Individual circumstances determine the degree of centralization that gives the best overall yields. Kpaag sinabi nating centralization from the word center means that the control of an activity or organization is under a single authority. Yung tinatawag nating centralization mayrong isang pinang gagalingan ng orders under centralize structure that must follow.
#7 Now we move to number 9 the Scalar Chain: so sa fayrol dinescribe nya itong principle na ito as a line of authority, pag sinabing scalar chain it is a term to describe the communication flow yung pagtakbo ng kuminikasyon, yung communication flow form the top level to bottom level. It is a clear line from the top to bottom that is very important to an organization to achieved objectives
Then next is the Order - Breaking this principle into material order and social order, Fayol thinks of it as a simple edge for everything. This Organization is the principle, which refers to arrangement of things and persons in an organization. Kapag sinabi po nating orders, it is the arrangement of things or it is the arrangement of persons in an organization. Ngayon pag sinabi pong order hindi po ito yung kina cash out mo sa shopee or lazada. It refers to the materials and people that should be in the right place.
#8 Number 11 principles Equity: Fayrol perceives this principle as one of eliciting loyalty and devotion from personnel with a combination of kindiness and justice in managers while dealing with subordinates. It is simple as being fair or parehas, managers should be fair in dealing with employees. Equity said it is a combination of justice and kindness. Ito yung kung anu yung ibibnigay mo isa kailangan ganun din yung ibibigay mo sa isa. Kung anu ang nareceived ng isa dapat ganun din ang marereceived ng lahat.
Next is Stability of Tenure of Personnel: Finding that instability is both the cause and effect of bad management, Fayol points out the dangers and costs of unnecessary turnover. Kapag sinabi po nating stability it is a state of being equal, this is also a saying na pagka ang isang employee nagtatagal siya or nagiging stable sa employer niya or sa company niya it will reflect that the company has a good management Stability of Tenure of Personnel is a principle stating that in order for an organization to run smoothly the personnel must not frequently enter and exit in the organization. Ang magiging indication nyan pag ang empleyado mo is labas pasok sa kumpanya or hindi nagtatagal it means theres something wrong its either sa management or how they motivate their employee para mag stay or something like that.
#9 Then pang 14 po is the Initiative: Initiative is conceived as the process of thinking out and executing a plan. Since it is one of the keenest satisfactions for an intelligent man to experience, Fayol exhorts managers to sacrifice personal vanity in order to permit subordinates to exercise it. Kapg sinabi namn po nating initiative, you have the ability na ma assess and initiate to do things on your own or independtly na hindi ka na kailangang utusan or hinid ka kialangang sabihan na gawin mo yung ganito. So you will think actions on your own.
And the last one finally yung last principle ni Henri Fayol, the last one is, and this pronounce as Esprit de corps: kc po French po c Henri Fayrol it means a group of spirit, in any organization it needs teamwork and teamwork in any organization it will promote harmony and generally the good feeelings. Kahit saang organization namn po importante po ang team work. Dahil kung walang teamwork hindi mag f function ng mayos yung gafgwin. Sabi nga po the teamwork make the dreamswork. Yan po yung 14 management priciples ni Henri Fayol.
#10 So next topic ko po is Organization, anu nga po ba ang organization, Organization - is defined as a social setting compose of several groups of people who bond and work together to achieve a common purpose and establish a common interest. Pag sinabi pong organization hindi pwede yung ikaw lang to make us a organization dapat it is composed of several groups of people that working towards a common goal
#11 So next po is meron naman po tayong types of Organization ditto sa ating bansa, una nga po dito yung Government Organization. - aim to provide specific services to the general public related to the improvement of lives and protection of liberties. Dito po ibat ibang organisasyon sa ating pamahalaan example nga po sito yung mga ibat iband department na ating pamahalaan tulat ng kagawaran ng edukasyon, kagawaran ng agrikultura at iba pa. then yung structural forms po niya for example po is National Government, National Commissions, national Authorities, LGU’s, Provincial Governemt, City, Municipality and mga Barangay.
Then next po yung Private Business Organization – for example po nito yung mga nasa fast food chains, meralco and other private businesses.
Then yung 3rd po eh yung Non-Government Organizations or NGO, ito naman po yung mga naririnig nyo na organization partikulary having a purpose for the good of the community, mostly ito po yung mga non profit organization. Usually ito yung mga charity institutions.
