We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

The life cycle of a butterfly

- 2. Project Based Learning Project-based learning is basically learning by doing a project. It is a type of learning that is student directed. Students will work in small groups and create or do some sort of project that enforces the classroom learning. This type of education encourages critical thinking skills and research has shown that students have better retention of the material learned because they are actually putting it to use. Students also gain a better understanding of how the subject matter will be used in real world situations.
- 3. Summary of Project This project will have students creating a habitat for a caterpillar and watching it go through the stages of metamorphosis and turning into a butterfly. The students will work together to build the habitat and write their observations each day in a journal. At the end we, as a class, will have a butterfly release ceremony.
- 4. Essential Question: 1.)What is life? Unit Questions: 1.) What do animals need to grow? 2.) Why do animals grow? Content Questions: 1.) What are the stages in the life cycle of a butterfly? 2.) How does a caterpillar turn into a butterfly 3.) What is metamorphosis? Curriculum Framing Questions

Standards and Objectives Standard: Science: Grade 4: 5: Describing life cycles of various animals to include incomplete and complete metamorphosis Objective: Students will be able to list and describe the stages of the life cycle of a butterfly.Standard: Science: Grade 4: 5:Describe the interdependence of plants and animals. Objective: Students will be able to describe the relationship between the plants and the caterpillar/butterfly and how the plants affect the stages of the life cycle.
