The National Library and Archives professionally dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic by transferring all services online, washing books to sterilize them, and providing electronic books. It is working on launching a digital repository platform and aims to have as many collections as possible online to spread knowledge among society and keep up with technological developments. The library also trains new employees on using the electronic index and search functions to help researchers.
LIBRARIANSHIP – IS NOT JUST ABOUT BOOKS
Librarianship as a profession in Jamaica, Kenya, and Tajikistan. In Jamaica, librarianship has grown in public and private libraries, and the government focuses on librarianship and its role in sustainable development goals. There is also a librarians association. In Kenya, librarianship is widely embraced with the Kenya National Library Services having 64 branches, and professional bodies supporting librarians. The East African University in Kenya has a large library providing electronic resources, information literacy instruction, and a comfortable study space.

Embracing or adapting: Post COVID libraries, challenges and opportunities
Libraries around the world faced significant challenges with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Services had to move online, with libraries offering e-books, online resources, and even home delivery of physical materials. Reopening plans varied by location. Libraries increased their focus on digital services and resources to continue supporting patrons remotely. Staff demonstrated flexibility in adopting new technologies and formats to maintain customer service during an uncertain time. The pandemic exposed issues of digital access and equity that libraries will continue addressing going forward.

The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:

The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.

This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.

The 2024 World Health Statistics edition reviews more than 50 health-related indicators from the Sustainable Development Goals and WHO’s Thirteenth General Programme of Work. It also highlights the findings from the Global health estimates 2021, notably the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on life expectancy and healthy life expectancy.

The librarian's role in ensuring students of higher education institutions successfully graduate on time

Blessing - focus on SIWES (Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme), it was eye opening on how sometimes theoretical knowledge might not be totally followed in the practical world, at the library AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION’S IRRT 2023 INTERNATIONAL LIBRARIAN NETWORKING PROGRAM 3) COLLABORATIVE DISCUSSION "How a librarian can helping students to achieve graduate on time (GOT)" 2) ICE BREAKING At the beginning, we were talking about works that are currently being completed by each of us. 1) MEET ONLINE We were meet online through Facebook as a regular communication platform. 4) POINT OF VIEWS i. Librarian should enhance collaboration with teaching faculty in graduate programs by developing content for students with specialized needs. ii. Librarians must capable to help students getting better steps by steps able proficient to use relevant open access scholarly resources and adhere to the discipline’s. 5) CONCLUSION i. Librarians must sustainable having great ideas to provide interesting content to encourage students able graduate on time. THE LIBRARIAN'S ROLE IN ENSURING STUDENTS OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS SUCCESSFULLY GRADUATE ON TIME Graduate on time is an issue raised among university students, especially for those who are underprivileged and struggle in terms of mental health problems and the inadequacy of gadgets to do academic tasks ii. Librarians must be sensitive to the needs of students not only outwardly but spiritually and able to help in developing good mental health among students so that they would be able to complete academic tasks with excellence.
