2. Hello,
My name is Fanelia Baskin and I have been asked to do this
interview because I possess the skills and education that
the job is looking for. I believe I am the best candidate for
this position.

3. Philosophy of Education
My teaching will create a stress-free classroom, where students can learn how
to turn obstacles into creative problem solving, learning, and education.
Education is a pathway to knowledge that teaches students there is a future in
this digital global economy. As a teacher my goals and values should focus on
teaching students key concepts of learning to fuel education. In my classroom
students will experience life learning, education, creative learning, moral
value, and ways to implement goals to help analyze information of the future.
With this information students can set learning goals for the 21st century. Each
student will be addressed by name and their interest and hobbies will be shown
and talked about throughout the school year, My classroom will be comfortable
promote learning and display positive behavior. To be an effective teacher
the students should expect me to support, communicate, imitate

A classroom management plan is a great
way to organize and establish structure
within the classroom.
Classroom Rules and Expectations
• Since my students are between the
ages of 2 and 3 years old it is best not to
have too many rules. In my classroom
the rules are simple, positive and

• The children in the class are to follow
the class's schedule and abide by the
rules and expectations. The children
will use their listening ears to follow the
instructions given in the class. The
children are to keep the class clean. The
most important role of the children in
the classroom is to be excited about
learning. I do not want the kids learning
because they will received a reward, I
want them to want to learn.

As the teacher in the class I will teach my
students the social, emotional and
educational skills they need to become

Classroom management is important in creating an environment where children can learn
and explore safely. My dream is to create a classroom where learning is accessible to
everyone and no child get left behind. My classroom is a classroom where every day is
a new day and I want my students to always feel excited that its a new day because the
possibilities are endless. I want students in my class to excel at everything they do.
From tracing to reading their first word. Through the implementation of my classroom
management plan coupled with an engaging and exciting curriculum the sky is the
limit.

10. Different school models
• There are many different models of schools and as the world of education evolves so do they as well. In each
school, each classroom their several personalities, not one child is the same as another. All the children that are
present in those classrooms are unique in their own way. It is the teacher's job to make sure that none of these
individuals lose their uniqueness while they are learning in this environment.
• The school that I work at is very divided that those of us that work in the preschool do not get to interact too much
with the rest of the school. My interview has me question what do they deal with upstairs and what are the
expectations for them. I would love to know how they include technology to teach 21st-century skills. I know
most of the teachers there have been working for ten plus years and I would love to know how they handle the
constant change that the education system goes through. I learn through all this that the requirements to be a
preschool teacher is so much more than the other grades. It gets me so frustrated sometimes.

11. Different school models
I realized that although both schools are funded differently the way they manage the
fundings is different. The private school seemed to have a lack of resources. The
teachers there mentioned that they have been waiting for supplies for a while and
they were still waiting. IHS had resources for all the students. The school also
offered more activities for the students which I thought would have been more
present at a private school. I notice both schools had to deal with behavioral
issues and that the way both teachers dealt with it was very efficient, but the
inclusive environment of IHS resulted in many more behavioral issues. These two
teachers attitude towards teaching despite problems is astonishing

after a lesson.
• “Developing clear learning objectives can also help
develop conceptual understanding for cognition”
(Newman, 2013).
• Clear objectives gets the children to practice critical
thinking skills
• “Well-defined and articulated learning objectives are
important because they provide students with a clear
purpose to focus their learning efforts, direct your
choice of instructional activities and guide your

15. Avoiding Pitfalls
There are many pitfalls that I must avoid when planning a lessons such as:
• Unclear learning objectives
• Mistaking students engagement for learning (Newman, 2013).
• Trying to accomplish too much in a short period of time.
• The learning activities are disconnected form the lessons.
• There are no focus questions on a broad topic.
“If teachers are to be successful in helping students develop the skills
necessary to be 21st-century thinkers and learners, they must be clear about

The use of formative and summative assessments in the classroom should be done with a
clear objective. The data received from those assessments should be used to help the students
reach their full potentials. Teachers need both of these assessments because they complement
each other. "Although the information gathered by using summative assessments is of great
importance, some aspects of the learning process will be left uncovered. While formative
evaluation shows the learner's progression toward the objective, the summative evaluation
shows whether the student has met the objective" ("The Five Major Features of Summative
Assessments - The Advocate", 2018). Summative assessments are used to determine a
student's overall achievement level in a specific area of learning at a particular time
(Newman, 2013). I feel that it is a way to help the students add to their learning while
providing the teachers with tools to create summative assessments. In my school, we have a
theme every month and a new letter and number friend every two weeks, the way we assess
the toddlers is to see how many of them can tell you the number friend, the letter friend,
whether they mastered that specific letter recognition. We do not move on to the next letter or
number until everyone is at somewhat the same or close to the same level. We use
differentiated instruction to aid in that process so that we do not have to stay behind.

• Assessments do not have to be tedious and overwhelming. They can be fun
and informational. They can be a friend that helps make your students
successful. The need for assessment is as vital as the need for lesson plans as
well as curriculums. Through preparation, research and partnership between
students, parents, and teachers you will be able to better differentiate your
lessons, you will know your students struggle points and you will also know
what is working for your students, what is helping them learn. We need both
formative and summative assessments for this to work because one is
formative comes before then summative. It can come full circle in the end.
