INDIVIDUAL STUDENT PROFILE 2
In this paper I will be stating my personal philosophy of learning. I will also go
over a few goals that I have for myself through the Master’s program at American
College of Education and ideas on how to reach them. this document is one that I will
reference to see my own personal growth over a set period of time.
Personal Philosophy of Learning
I did not grow up wanting to be a teacher. It was more of a surprise in college
when I realized that the path I was on was not the one for me. I grew up imagining
myself as a veterinarian. I love animals and all of the adventures that come with them.
So naturally I took biology and animal sciences courses and started to feel a bit out of
place. Then I took a child development course and fell in love. I started to go through
the steps of becoming a teacher and knew I had found the place for me. I did my
practicum and student teaching in the same school that I am teaching in now. In fact, I
am teaching the same grade, working with the same team, and using the same
curriculum which has helped me substantially. I love teaching and I love teaching
kindergarten. Teaching is one of the most important jobs for our future and the future of
our children.
I believe that learning should be accessible to all student no matter the obstacle,
whether it be poverty, language, or even a different learning style. We as teachers do
not just teach academics. We teach a child how to accept change, how to grow, and
use the skills they are learning in the classroom in the real world. I have always enjoyed
learning and growing as a person, I think it is crucial that we teach the young people of
today to be life-long learners. They will continue to grow and change and so will the
world they live in; we must set them up to be successful at this.

Goal Statements
My first goal to have a greater understanding of how I can use technology in my
position of teaching kindergarten. I use lots of tools to design worksheets and activities,
but I would like to have technology be more interactive and even a way to collect data
on the students. One way I could reach this goal is by researching different tools and
apps and trying them out with the kids.
My second goal is to become more active in my school environment. I attend a
lot of events, but I would like to take more of a leadership role. I think that now that I
have a couple years under my belt I am ready to step up and take on some challenges
that our school leadership teams face. To reach this goal I will have to talk to those
already in leadership roles and see what is lacking and find what I can do to help fill
them.
My third goal is to focus more on how I can make my classroom more of an
environment that the students have ownership of. While they are comfortable and will
take care of the classroom now, I would like to give them the ownership that will instill
pride and love of the classroom and will transfer to their daily lives and the rest of their
learning career
I am proud of myself for taking this risk of starting this Master’s program. It will be
a challenge to be working full time, only be in my second year of teaching, and trying to
balance of the things that need to be done. However, I feel as though this program will
help me on my journey of being the best educator I can be. I look forward to growing as
a learner and as a teacher.
