because unions still need to have the power to protect their members, every school
district is different and has different needs, and democracy is necessary in our
society. The teachers union has been around for many years. The first union was
founded in, 1857: The National Education Association (NEA) is founded in
Philadelphia by 43 educators (Mader, 2012). With a local school board in charge of
a district s education, teachers unions can have a greater ability to bargain, educate,
and protect their members. School boards are there to help be an in between for the
tax payers and the schools.
School systems sometimes make promises they have no intention of keeping. Other
times, they can deliver a world of opportunities to our neediest children. They may or
may not want to listen to parents or even teachers, but school systems always attend
to the demands of the most powerful individuals and institutions in their

November 2017 The source from history.com describes the Columbine incident by
Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris. They killed twelve students and a teacher with
semiautomatic guns. Then when the SWAT team arrived at the school at around 3:00
PM, the dead bodies of the gunmen were found in the school. The gunmen committed
suicide at around noon and twenty three injured students were evacuated out of the
school and into the hospital. Following the incident, an investigation was done on the
motives of the shooters. It was suspected that the gunmen primarily targeted athletes,
minorities and Christians. It was reported that a student Cassie Bernall was shot to
death because she said she believed in god when asked by one of the gunmen.
However, it was later determined that the shooters randomly chose their targets and
had intended on bombing the cafeteria to potentially take hundreds of lives.
Thankfully, the bombs never went off. It was discovered the Klebold and Harris
regularly played DOOM, which was the most violent video gameat the time.
The debate on whether video games influenced the individuals who performed these
horrendous acts kick started with the Columbine massacre. I felt I had to read the

Does society corrupt our morals or does it keep us civil? The philosopher Jean
Jacques Rousseau believed that people are inherently good. Without civilizations,
humans are good beings with empathy, kindness, and well developed morals.
However, he believed that societies corrupt our morals and are what make the

William Golding, however, believed that in a primitive environment, humans are evil.
Without a society watching over us, humans will become barbaric brutes. Jean

The excessive amount of weapons held in civilian hands following the end of the
Libyan civil war would later pose a direct threat to those in the consulate and CIA
annex on September 11th, 2012. There were four primary players in the events in
Benghazi. The U.S. Department of State (DOS) played a major part as it is the
agency that controls the vast majority of U.S. foreign affairs and controls all of the
embassies and consulates worldwide. Two DOS employees, Ambassador Chris
Stevens and Information Management Officer Sean Smith, perished during the
assault on the compound. Five Diplomatic Security (DS) agents provided security for
the building during the events of that night. In addition to the five DS agents, at least
three 17th of February militia members provided security for the compound the night
