Flag of U.S.A. 
The U.S. flag has changed many times since the 
first official flag of 1777. On June 14, 1777 , the flag 
had thirteen red and white stripes and thirteen 
white stars on a blue field. Later many stars were 
added to the flag as new states joined the union. 
Now the flag has 50 stars, which is the number of 
the states.
Flag’s meaning 
Why is the flag red, white, and blue? The flag's 
colors did not have a meaning at the beginning, 
the colors got meaning in 1782 by the Great Seal. 
White: Signifies purity and innocence 
Red: Signifies bravery 
Blue: Signifies justice
Stars and Stripes 
Why stars and stripes? Stars are considered a 
symbol of the heavens and the divine goal; the 
stripe is symbolic of the rays of light coming 
from the sun.
