Giada Arney, an astrobiologist at NASA Goddard Space
Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, USA. “Because the
data from future observations will be sparse and complex. It
will be tough to understand them. Therefore, such tools hold
great potential to assist us in research.”
NASA has partnered with companies like Intel, IBM,
and Google to develop advanced Machine Learning (ML)
techniques. Each summer, it brings together innovative com-
panies in the technology and space fields within an eight–
week program called the Frontier Development Lab (FDL).
According to the statement, this technique processes
information similarly to how neurons in the brain, namely
nerve cells, connect with other neurons to process and trans-
mit information.
In addition, the neural network technique can detect this
when there is insufficient data, Domagal–Goldman said in a
statement, adding that it is essential whether we trust these
predictions.
The researchers say that while the neural network tech-
nique is still in development, the team helping scientists
narrow down the list of exoplanet candidates that deserve
further study.

3. Other FDL technologies are also well appreciated. For example, in 2017, a team devel-
oped a Machine Learning (ML) program that could create 3D models of asteroids, including
size, shape, and spin rate, in four days. According to the statement, such a program is essen-
tial for detecting and deflecting potentially earth–threatening asteroids.

Diving into the Universe with Artificial Intelligence
We have said before that most space technologies are the product of Artificial Intelligence
(AI). The first Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot sent into space is CIMON. CIMON’s spherical
robot was sent to the space station aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Rocket. With 12 fans on it, CI-
MON could glide in a zero–gravity environment and could follow the astronauts without dam-
aging its surroundings. It can even make verbal and written reminders for astronauts’ complex
tasks such as maintenance and repair.
CIMON is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot designed to handle complex and many as-
tronauts’ tasks. Astronauts can get their work done by asking CIMON about their issues. The
Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot can respond by listening to the astronauts speak. In addition,
CIMON even advises space crew and astronauts in emergencies.

4. It can control the technical specifications of the ISS Space Station. It is even planned to per-
form 24–hour missions on future Mars missions. It would not be wrong to call this Artificial Intel-
ligence (AI) robot a flying brain. CIMON cost $6 million to build. There’s even a shut–off button
for emergencies, such as when the robot doesn’t get off the road and harm the astronauts.
