Drama comes from the Greek word meaning "to do" or "act". It is a story told in front of an audience through acting. The key elements of drama include a playwright who writes the play, actors who perform it, acts and scenes which divide the story, dialogue and monologues, conflict, and stage directions. A play is performed on a stage set within a theatre using props to make the story seem real. Plays can be comedies with happy endings, tragedies involving a character's downfall, or realistic dramas meant to hold a mirror up to life and explore the human condition.
