doesn’t show what is on the other side.

on the screen slightly lighting the dark room. Camera slowly
moves towards the computer. As it gets close, music builds up
and then…

whilst a bed is visible in the back out of focus.

Protagonist putting on his jacket as he is about to leave the
house. He looks at his phone and putting on his earphones,
before opening the door and walking out.
CUT TO:
EXT. STREET
Protagonist walking down the street, listening to his music.
During his walk he comes to a stop when he sees a few people
on the floor, lying down, not moving. The protagonist stands
there looking at the people with a blank expression as though
he has seen this before.
Whilst the protagonist stands there, a bystander walks up and
sees the same thing and stands there as well. A few seconds
go by and out of nowhere the bystander falls onto the ground.
As he falls, there is a ‘flashback’ to the door and back to
when the protagonist first saw it happen.
CUT TO:
Protagonist and his friend sitting on a bench at the park,
enjoying a drink when his friend starts getting a crippling
headache. After a few seconds it stops, and without words he
turns to the protagonist, smiles and falls. The protagonist
is seen to be shocked and unsure of what to do, followed by…

and sits next to him on the bench. He gives out a sigh as
they sit there.
RANDOM PERSON
So… You too huh.
Protagonist slightly nods his head, and takes another sip of
water. The two sit there pondering life.
RANDOM PERSON
Well, think about before you do it,
alright? It might not be too bad.
The random person slowly stands up and gives out another
sigh.
RANDOM PERSON
Perhaps we’ll meet again. I’ll be going
now.
He begins to walk away slowly, leaving the protagonist alone
sitting on the bench, alone with his thoughts.

himself inside the dark room sitting in front of the screen

the door and looks at it for a while.
CUT TO:

The news story is interrupted by a knock on the door. A
stranger seems to have found his way to the protagonist’s
house.
Gabriel
How’s it going! I see you chose to stay
behind huh. I’m gathering a small group
of people who chose to stay too, want
to come along? You won’t be losing
anything.
CUT TO:
EXT. STREET
Gabriel and the Protagonist walk down the road from earlier.
The street is clean and the path is clear.
Gabriel
You know, usually when I find people
who chose not to go they are usually
pondering life or grieving. You don’t
seem to be doing either…
Gabriel looks at the protagonist for a few seconds as he
finishes the sentence.
Gabriel
Or maybe I’m wrong.
The two continue walking, no bodies on the floor, nothing
unusual going on. It is as if it was all a dream to the
protagonist, apart from this stranger.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK
They finally arrive at the park, where a few people can be
seen from a distance, already gathered and are seemingly
enjoying themselves. The protagonist comes to a stop on their
way to the group, taking a look at all the people smiling and
talking. Gabriel stops a few steps in front of him and takes
a look back.
Gabriel
Listen, whatever you’ve gone through,
whatever you’re seen, we’ve all
experienced it too.
CUT TO:
INT. DARK ROOM
Gabriel continues to speak as it goes back to showing the
door in the dark room. Camera slowly moving towards the door
with slightly more light coming through the small gap.
Gabriel
We all knew it was going to end
somehow, and it looks like this is it.
The only difference is you can chose to
wait for your time, or leave whenever
you feel like it.
The computer screen is now in frame, as Gabriel continues
to speak.
Gabriel
The choice is yours, friend.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK
The protagonist looks at Gabriel and the group in the
distance, trying to make the decision on whether to join them
or go back to solitude.
Gabriel
So. What will it be?
Protagonist takes one final look at the group in deep
thought.
Gabriel
After all, we’ll get to the door
eventually. So what the hurry?
Protagonist slowly walks towards the group with Gabriel
alongside him.
