Our Final Idea

Cristina Shaw and Shannon Lewis
Plot
• Character A is seen to be the protagonist. We
first meet him in a forest walking at a steady
pace casually. He is oddly dressed in dark
  clothes.
• The audience sees a dark character (Character
  B) in the shadows suddenly.
• Character A notices he’s there, starts to run,
and gets caught, (For the rest of the movie we
  assume that he is dead).
• It cuts to a flashback of character A, at home
getting ready to go out with his happy family.
• We haven’t come up with a good way of closing
  the opening yet 
Information on Characters and Plot
• Character A is insane. This is because of what happened in the
  past: Family died.
• Character B is Character A’s therapist, but in the opening the
audience see’s B through A’s point of view: someone trying to
kill him and all dressed in black, whereas in reality he is
dressed differently and is trying to help him.
• The plot is non linear; it starts at the end and ends at the
  beginning.
Ideas/Messages/ Themes
• Psychological thriller
• Message: To show the audience how fragile
the mind can be when you lose someone
  close.
• Plot Twist: Character B is Character A’s
therapist, but seen though Character A’s eyes
in the opening and reality in the ending.
Our Target Audience
• Our target audience will be the comfortable
full nesters and reformers as it is a
  psychological thriller.
• We aren’t aiming at a specific gender as it will
  suit both.
Title Sequence
Our idea is still incomplete and we are likely to
change quite a few things.
To begin with, the scene will fade in from black
and will open with a shot of a pair of feet
walking in a forest at around twilight. It will be a
tracking shot and a close up. This will follow
with the title sequence over the shot of the feet.
All will be quiet excluding the sound of the
person walking.
How we plan to film this sequence
It is relatively hard to do a ‘clean’ tracking shot
with a hand held camera. So we plan to go to
the place where we are filming, place down
some mats or plastic covers so there is a smooth
surface. Then we will place the camera onto a
skateboard that will be pushed along the mats
so produce a smooth shot.
Practical Details
• Set in a twilight lighting (between sunset and dusk). The problem with this
time of day, is that there is a limit of how much time we can film in.
• It’ll be cold, so the characters would wear warm, winter clothes.
• There would probably be two locations featured in the opening: the
woods and the house. Issues that could happen would be getting the
actors and each other to these locations to film.
• We will need a few bits of filming equipment to get the shots we want, for
instance sheets of plastic and a skateboard for the tracking.
• We would like to try and include a dolly zoom in the opening as it’s a good
  technique to present confusion.
Conventions
• We are unsure whether we will use dialogue or not in our opening.
• There’s a chance that we will try to add in non-diegetic music to our
opening, but it will be quiet and only there to increase suspense. For
instance, the audience won’t pick up on the music being there until the
  chase part.
• Settings: The first part is based in a woods which has one, long, straight
path with two openings. The Flashback would be set in a house on the
stairs which lead to the door.
• Costume: Character A wears odd shoes, and dark mix match clothes which
reflects on his insane personality and dark past. Character B all in black
clothing as the audience needs to think he is the antagonist.
• Lighting: We would like to use natural lighting for the woods scene and
artificial lighting for the house scene.
