Mental Health at The Docs
• People with a diagnosis of mental illness including schizophrenia, affective disorders, personality disorder,
‘emotional dysregulation’, ADHD and autism
• People with poor mental health, but without a diagnosed mental illness
• People who have a history of mental illness, and a history of accessing secondary mental health care, but who
have been managed in primary care for a while and are now distressed or agitated and risk slipping into crisis​.
• People in emotional distress, experiencing difficult life events (such as problems with social isolation, housing,
employment or benefits

The Mental Health Practitioner role
• The MHP will take a trauma informed approach to their practice. This is
a strengths-based approach that seeks to understand and respond to
the impact of trauma on people’s lives.
• The MHP will work with patients to:
1.support shared decision-making about self-management
2.facilitate onward access to treatment services
3.provide brief psychological interventions, where qualified to do so and where appropriate
• The MHP will work closely with other PCN-based roles to help address the
potential range of biopsychosocial needs of patients with mental health problems
• This will include the PCN’s MDT including, for example, PCN clinical pharmacists
for medication reviews, and social prescribing link workers for access to
community-based support

Cancer: National Screening
There are 3 National Cancer Screening programmes. The 3 screening programmes below
are initiated by age and invites sent out centrally.
Cervical Screening – Requires a Smear (at the Surgery 25-64yrs)
Breast Screening – Requires a Mammogram (Nightingale Centre 50-74yrs)
Bowel Cancer Screening – Requires a Faecal Occult Blood test (At home)
As a PCN we are focusing on the early signs of cancer, and how to reduce
deaths from Cancer.

• We had 10,043 patients
registered at The Docs
• 477 OUT OF AREA patients
• 70 patients were waiting to be
registered with us

• 455 OUT OF AREA patients
• 193 patients are waiting to be
registered with us
Capitation increase

Status at The Docs
• We are still asking patients to wear masks on site and when seeing a clinician
• We have a rigid clean down protocol so have been able to carry on with our service
ensuring staff and patients are safe
• Patients booked in for appointments are sent a COVID questionnaire before
attending the practice. This will remain in place
