The US Constitution was created between May 1787 and September 1787 in Philadelphia by several delegates known as the Framers. It was written to establish order and common rules for the country after the Revolutionary War weakened the previous system under the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution drew upon several historical documents and was intended to balance power and protect citizens' rights while addressing problems that arose in society without the strong central government.
