SACRAMENT
Mystery and Sacrament
 These are two terms that we need to unlock
before we can proceed toward gaining a fuller
understanding of the nature of the church
and its mission.
We understand that the church
is a mystery
 We say that church is a mystery because its
origin, ongoing life and final goal involve the
very self of the triune God-Father, Son,Holy
Spirit.
We understand that the church
is a sacrament
 Sacrament means a sacred symbol.To say
that the church is sacrament means that the
church is a visible or concrete symbol of the
Risen Christ’s presence in our world.When
others look at us, the church, they should see
reflected in us the risen Christ Himself-his
teachings and values
