DESIGNING WITH DATA FOR HUMANS
Designers and UX professionals have the opportunity and skills to shape data so it’s understandable, manageable and positively affects lives.
Ivo Gasparotto has worked on a team at GE Capital to create an intuitive application for users to manage and manipulate massive amounts of business and operations-related data. The team produced a user-centered application that allows access to data and surfaces unique insights into their business. Ivo will share what he’s learned about using design to make data more meaningful for people in the ways they do business and connect with the world.

User Stories and User Story Mapping by Jason JonesAgile ME
There are two eternal challenges to Software Development Projects. One is that there are always more to build than we have time or resources to do. Always! The other is that all project problems ultimately comes down to poor communication. User Stories is really the promise of a conversation and User Story Mapping is a proven way of using Stories for doing release planning. Thus, this session will address both eternal challenges. The simplicity of the technique makes it a great starting point on the agile journey for most companies and will also help you improve the User Experience of your product.
SkyBIM Cloud based management & real-time costing of BIM projectsSkyBIM
Collaboration is coming to the building industry. It’s a monumental shift that promises speed and efficiency. A shared building model which digitally captures ALL project information and makes it available to the entire project team throughout the lifecycle of the building is widely seen as the Next Big Thing in design and construction. The one who controls the project information will be at the center of the building enterprise.
SkyBIM is a cloud-based platform to host all the information collected throughout a building's lifecycle to optimise the way buildings are designed, costed, constructed, and managed.
Since projects are securely hosted in the cloud, multiple members of the project team can simultaneously collaborate on an estimate. Whether you are the architect, estimator, contractor or owner - you can view a project’s latest takeoff quantities, edit product costs, create construction assemblies and print reports.
SkyBIM can provide massive automation in the real-time management and cost estimating of chain stores. Once we have configured and costed one store, the rest are essentially automatic.
If you are involved with Revit projects that are chain-store based (Subway, Chipotle, Starbucks, WalMart, Woolworths, McDonald's, etc) or have a high degree of repetition, please contact marek@skybim.com

The Minimum Viable Product (or MVP) is the first shippable version of a product containing purely core features, distributed as a test release in order to create useful feedback for the most basic features. Planning for a MVP release requires the Product Owner to know how to organize and prioritize a dense backlog of features, but in an agile environment with a diverse team and uniquely talented vendors we posit they need not do it alone.
Different lenses for knowing what MVP means to your internal and external team so you can know if you are building the right thing.
What must the MVP consist of to be meaningful to the target user? What’s the best way to phase out the release of everything else? What can be cut completely? Basic agile/lean design project management techniques. Important conflict resolution and emotional management techniques. How to sell it with a "Flexible Scope Retainer".
Build – Measure – Learn is one of the most important mechanisms of agile software development. However, this mechanism is often crippled in nowadays projects, where traditional approaches of requirements gathering are bloating up product backlogs that cannot be prioritized anymore in a meaningful way. The results are customers not interested in iteration results, release to production that happens only at the end of the project, and feedback from customers when it is already too late and the budget is burned up.
Story mapping is a method that aligns user stories along desirable outcomes, so that customers can give sooner meaningful feedback, and release to production can happen earlier. The method helps slicing and prioritizing user stories, and addresses the product design aspect that is missing when just working with a product backlog. The method is highly visual and facilitates shared product ownership among product owner, team and customer.
This presentation provide an introduction to the concept of story mapping, with examples and experience gathered in own projects.
6 Strategies to Uncover Growth Opportunities for Your BusinessAtlassian
If there is one commonality between all the fast growth company success stories like Airbnb, Uber, or HubSpot, it's that they're all crazy about measuring and tracking their data and numbers. In order to grow fast, you have to know where your growth comes from and where you lose. However, there's a second part of the equation that is equally important, yet less discussed and that is the qualitative side to growth. Companies also need to be able to understand the why, why they're growing (or not), and that answer is not always found in data. In this talk, I will describe both the quantitative and qualitative ways you can uncover growth opportunities for your business through experimentation. Experimentation can help you build and validate your product's roadmap and ensure you're focusing your resources on what will bring growth.

2013 URISA Track, Asset and Infrastructure Mobile Mapping by Christopher Aldr...GIS in the Rockies
AIMM: An image based approach to precision mobile mapping for asset and infrastructure information. Asset management has become a key component of many municipalities survival in the recent difficult economic times. Most things have a life expectancy and being able to keep track of when you are nearing the end of that life expectancy allows you to plan for the orderly inspection, repair, replacement of that particular piece of infrastructure, in turn minimizing your cost and preventing a catastrophic failure. The combination of the advancements in digital imagery, photogrammetry, and computer vision have met in a perfect storm to provide an image based mobile mapping solution that can produce a 360 degree imagery view for the extraction of precise 3D geolocated point data, vectors, and point clouds. The technology lends itself extraordinarily well to asset and inventory mapping as well as numerous other applications.

The emergence of digital media formats, internet resources and the ability to create digital content through the use of interactive mobile devices like tablets and smart phones have now become a standard feature of every classroom environment. Teachers are discovering innovative ways to create digital rich technology based interactive lessons. The methods used in interactive lesson design can offer an array of ways to access and combined content into a complete seamless learning experience. Teachers who use the interactive lesson design features will find that content no longer needs to be segmented and delivered in isolation but has the potential to be combined into interactive presentations that responds to an individual’s touch to access content.
