The author of this document is Harun Yahya, who writes under a pen name. He was born in Ankara in 1956 and studied arts and philosophy in Istanbul. Since the 1980s, he has published many books refuting Darwinism and materialism. This book discusses the creation of human beings from a single cell. It notes that a tiny cell grows into a baby through a miracle, and that baby grows into a rational human being reading about his own creation. The book aims to show the miracle of human creation and refute the theory of evolution, which claims man came into existence by chance. It argues that God, who created humans, can also raise humans up again, as the Quran states. The book
This document summarizes the intricate process of breathing and oxygen transport in the human body. It describes how air is conditioned in the nose before traveling down the windpipe to the lungs. In the lungs, oxygen passes into the bloodstream through tiny air sacs called alveoli, while carbon dioxide is removed. Specialized cells and molecules like cilia, mucus, and hemoglobin work flawlessly together to transport oxygen to cells and remove waste, demonstrating signs of purposeful design.
Communist China’s policy of oppression in East Turkestan. englishHarunyahyaEnglish
Harun Yahya discusses the oppression of Uighur Muslims in East Turkestan (Xinjiang) by China. He notes that over 35 million Muslims have been martyred in East Turkestan since 1965, including recent massacres in July 2009 where hundreds of Uighurs were killed while protesting attacks on Uighur workers. Yahya argues that the only way to stop Chinese repression is through the establishment of a Turkish-Islamic Union, which would give Muslims a unified voice and deter China from further oppression. Such a union could also guarantee rights for East Turkestan and improve China's relations with Muslims within its borders.

1) Jesus was sent by God to free humanity from sin and supported the truth of the Old Testament. This gives credibility to the biblical accounts of creation and God's relationship with humanity.
2) Jesus performed miracles like turning water to wine and resurrecting the dead that had not been done by others, showing he was the son of God.
3) The complexity and design of the human body, earth, and universe point to a creator rather than being a result of random chance.
1. The document discusses how Jesus Christ supports the truth of the Old Testament and provides credibility to the creation account in Genesis.
2. It argues that miracles performed by Jesus, such as turning water into wine, point to his divinity.
3. The complexity and design seen in the human body, earth, and universe are presented as evidence for an intelligent creator rather than purely naturalistic processes.
1. The document discusses how the complexity and design of the human body, earth, and universe point to an intelligent creator, God. It provides examples of how attributes such as the size of the earth and moon, composition of water, and functioning of the brain and eye could not have occurred by chance.
2. Quotes from scientists and the Bible are presented to argue that science and religion are compatible and that God created the world and humans.
3. The document asserts that evolution alone cannot explain the initial creation of living organisms and complex structures like the eye and brain, which require an intelligent designer.
The document discusses the unique properties of water that make it essential for life on Earth. It notes that water is 70% of the human body and is crucial for all living things. Unlike other liquids, water freezes from the top down, allowing life to exist beneath ice sheets. If water froze from the bottom up, oceans would become solid ice, making life impossible. The document argues these properties show water was specially designed for life and that this was revealed in the Quran centuries ago.
"Chapter 1: The World" of Archpriest Seraphim Slobodskoy's textbook The Law of God. Excellent resource for Christian educators, Sunday school teachers, science teachers, catechumen classes, etc. Made by Orthodox Christians parents, with much love, for their children.
This document presents six arguments for why God may exist. First, it argues that the complexity and design of our planet, including its size, distance from the sun, moon, water, human brain, and eye, point to an intelligent designer. Second, it claims that the Big Bang that started the universe requires a cause. Third, it questions why the universe operates based on consistent, uniform laws of nature.
This document discusses water and its importance for life on Earth. It highlights that water regulates body temperature, transports nutrients and oxygen, cushions joints, and removes waste. It notes that almost all of Earth's water is in the oceans and most freshwater is in ice. It encourages actions like fixing leaky taps, watering plants efficiently, and using only what you need to help conserve water resources.
The document discusses water and the author's father. It notes how water is essential for life on Earth yet is often disrespected and polluted. The author's father dreamed that everyone would learn to respect water and have access to clean water. The author shares a memory of talking with their father about their ancestry and family history while sitting in the sun. Their father comforted the author during times of grief and questioning. The author's recipe is to go out in the rain with a glass and drink fresh water straight from nature.
This document discusses various topics related to water, including fresh water, salt water, the water cycle, ocean topography, currents and tides, and how humans affect water. It notes that most fresh water is found in Arctic ice, fresh water can be reused, and salt water can be made fresh through boiling. The water cycle is described as important because it allows water to be used repeatedly without running out. The ocean bottom contains diverse life even in very deep and dark areas, while currents and tides are influenced by the moon and sun. Humans can negatively impact water but also reuse it; reducing water usage and properly disposing of trash can help address these effects.
A couple weeks ago we talked about the season of famine, which as we know, is an extreme scarcity of food and in a spiritual sense, scarcity of the word of God. For this lesson we turn our focus to the season of drought and the importance of groundwater during this arid time, speaking first in common terms and then breaking it down spiritually to help you gain a better understanding as it pertains to your salvation.
This document discusses the importance and properties of water. It begins with a riddle and then discusses key points:
- Water is essential for all living things and exists in solid, liquid, and gas forms through the water cycle.
- Humans and other organisms rely on water for biological processes like temperature regulation and digestion, as well as recreational activities.
- Plants need water for growth and photosynthesis, and many animals live in water.
- Water is used for domestic, industrial, and agricultural purposes like generating electricity, transportation, irrigation, and more.
- Water anomalously expands when freezing into ice, allowing aquatic life to survive under ice in cold regions.

This document discusses water and rivers, including key concepts like the water cycle, characteristics of rivers, and how humans interact with and impact rivers. It explains that water cycles through evaporation, transpiration, precipitation, and either infiltration into the ground or runoff into rivers. Rivers erode, transport, and deposit sediment over time. Humans can help rivers through conservation but also harm them with pollution and activities like channelization that disrupt natural processes.
This document discusses the characteristics of living organisms and their habitats. It begins by describing different habitats like deserts, mountains, beaches and seas and the organisms found in each, noting some like ants are present in multiple habitats. It then discusses habitat and adaptation, explaining how organisms are adapted to their environment through features and behaviors that allow them to survive. Examples given include camel adaptations to deserts and fish body shapes for swimming. The document continues by defining habitat and describing terrestrial and aquatic habitats and examples of each. It provides more details on adaptations in specific habitats like deserts, mountains, grasslands, oceans, ponds and lakes. Finally, it discusses common characteristics of living organisms like needing food, growth, respiration, response to stimuli

It begins by outlining the topics that will be covered, including water's role in ecosystems, characteristics of water and rivers, how life is impacted, water quality and pollution, and testing a local river. The document then discusses water itself, including its physical and chemical properties. It also covers topics like the water cycle, characteristics of rivers like headwaters and mouths, and how rivers shape the landscape through erosion, transportation, and deposition over time.
This document discusses water, its properties, states, and importance for life. It describes the water cycle where water evaporates from oceans and lakes, rises as vapor, condenses to form clouds, and falls as precipitation to collect in bodies of water again. It emphasizes that water is a limited resource and stresses conserving it through practices like fixing leaks, turning off taps, and reusing water. A quiz at the end reviews these key points about water.
The document discusses the properties and importance of water, describing it as composed of hydrogen and oxygen and existing in different states. It explains various sources of water like seawater, fresh water, and ground water. The document emphasizes how essential water is for life, that the human body is largely made up of water, and that people can only survive a few days without water intake.
Water is essential for all life on Earth. It exists in three forms - liquid, solid (ice), and gas (water vapor) - and is constantly changing between these forms through the natural water cycle. Water is needed by all living things for survival, as it helps regulate body temperature in animals, transports nutrients in plants, and is the main component of cells. However, human activities like pollution threaten water supplies, making conservation and protection of freshwater resources important.

Adnan Oktar (Harun Yahya) tells, the real essence of matter. englishHarunyahyaEnglish
1) Adnan Oktar discusses time, eternity, and destiny in an interview. He explains that from Allah's perspective, everything occurs in a single moment, though we perceive time through comparisons in our minds. What we experience as long periods are quite brief to Allah.
2) Oktar further explains that we can never directly experience the original forms of matter due to the atomic structure. There is immense empty space between particles, and we only perceive images formed in our brains.
3) Oktar also notes that vision does not occur through our eyes, but rather arises through images formed in our brains from light waves and other sensory inputs. We perceive reality through these mental representations rather than directly contacting external objects.
Adnan Oktar (Harun Yahya's) views on the people of the book 1. englishHarunyahyaEnglish
1. Muslims and the People of the Book (Christians and Jews) share many core beliefs and values, including belief in Allah, prophets like Jesus and Moses, the scriptures, Heaven and Hell. Their faiths have diverged over time but the Quran acknowledges their similarities.
2. Islam teaches that Christians and Jews are "People of the Book" who should be treated with affection and respect. Muslims can intermarry with them and engage in social/business relations. They are considered trustworthy.
3. Armenians as Christians are also considered People of the Book and brothers to Muslims. The border between Turkey and Armenia should be opened to foster friendship between the groups.
Allāh (God Almighty's) miracles of the Qur’an. englishHarunyahyaEnglish

3) The author hopes the reader will consider these important topics and find the books useful in better understanding faith and removing doubts about religion.
This document discusses altruism and self-sacrifice in the animal kingdom. It provides numerous examples of animals making great sacrifices for the sake of their offspring, from birds who work tirelessly feeding their young every few minutes, to penguins that go without food for four months to protect their eggs, to crocodiles that gently transport hatchlings to water in their mouths. The document argues that such maternal love and devotion cannot be explained by evolution or natural selection, and must have been inspired by God, who created all living things. It also critiques Darwin's theory of evolution and natural selection.
The document discusses various examples of camouflage in animals and how it demonstrates God's creative design. It describes how polar birds change their feather colors to match the environment in different seasons. It also provides examples of insects that mimic leaves and spiders that blend into tree branches. The document argues that these animals could not develop such camouflage abilities themselves and must have been created by God with these traits. It aims to show how nature provides evidence of an intelligent creator.
The document discusses the annual migration patterns of monarch butterflies and salmon. It explains that monarch butterflies travel thousands of miles each year from Canada to Mexico and back, and salmon swim from rivers to oceans and back to the exact river they were born in. It argues that these animals must have been specially created by God to complete these complex journeys according to a flawless plan due to the precise timing and navigational abilities required.
The document discusses several topics from the Quran:
1. There are no limits to improving one's morality, as one can always become better. Those who think they have reached perfection risk moral and behavioral corruption.
2. The Quran teaches respecting parents, which brings benefits like harmony and support within families.
3. Believers should treat parents with kindness, even if they hold different beliefs, but should not obey parents if it conflicts with religion.
4. Imperfections like illness are actually blessings that test faith and will be removed in paradise, so believers accept their fate rather than complain.
God forbids several poor behaviors in the Qur'an such as mockery, gossip, calling others offensive nicknames, jealousy, despair, and extravagance. Believers are commanded to be patient during difficulties, put their trust in God, and avoid feeling hopeless. The Qur'an teaches that life is a test of one's deeds, and that believers should strive to please God in all their words, thoughts, and actions, not just during prayers. Spending one's entire life for God is among the basic demands of religion.
Bees and beavers are expert architects in nature that display remarkable skills from birth. Bees build hexagonal honeycombs with minimal materials, cooperating to construct the comb from different points until they meet in the middle without imperfections. Beavers dam rivers by cutting down trees, arranging logs and branches into a concave shape that best resists water pressure, forming ponds over months. Both bees and beavers possess innate knowledge and abilities from God to construct dwellings and storehouses through dedicated labor.
The document provides biographical information about the author Harun Yahya and an overview of his works. It states that Harun Yahya writes under a pen name and was born in Ankara in 1956, studying arts and philosophy at university. It notes that since the 1980s he has published many books on political, scientific, and faith-related issues that have helped people strengthen or better understand their faith. The document emphasizes that Harun Yahya's books aim to encourage thoughtful consideration of faith and refute anti-religious ideologies using evidence-based arguments.
This document provides background information about the author Harun Yahya (pen name of Adnan Oktar) and his body of work challenging Darwinism and advocating for Islamic faith. Some key details:
- Harun Yahya has authored over 300 works translated into 73 languages, challenging Darwinism and advocating for belief in Allah and the hereafter.
- His goal is to convey the Quran's message and expose flaws in irreligious ideologies like Darwinism, which rejects faith.
- He argues Darwinism has caused many to lose faith, so refuting it is an important service. His books aim to overcome disbelief through clear, evidence-based arguments.

World Wars I and II resulted in approximately 65 million deaths total, around half of whom were civilians. The 20th century introduced humanity to "world wars" on a massive, global scale. Both wars featured new, cruel tactics like targeting civilians directly and using chemical weapons. World War I in particular involved brutal trench warfare across Europe that led to over 20 million casualties among soldiers living in horrific conditions. Massive battles like the Somme and Verdun caused hundreds of thousands of deaths while advancing front lines only short distances. The wars had devastating human and social impacts through immense loss of life.
The document discusses events prophesied in Islamic hadith to occur in the Middle East region during the End Times before the establishment of global dominance by Islamic moral values. It notes that the Middle East has been the site of many prophets and holy sites in Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. Recent events mentioned as fulfilling prophecies include the Iran-Iraq War, Russian invasion of Afghanistan, attacks on the Kaaba shrine in Mecca, and halting of the Euphrates river by dams. The document suggests recent wars and unrest in the Middle East align with hadith about events prior to the emergence of Hazrat Mahdi and the return of Jesus.
Anti-Universe And Emergent Gravity and the Dark UniverseSérgio Sacani
Recent theoretical progress indicates that spacetime and gravity emerge together from the entanglement structure of an underlying microscopic theory. These ideas are best understood in Anti-de Sitter space, where they rely on the area law for entanglement entropy. The extension to de Sitter space requires taking into account the entropy and temperature associated with the cosmological horizon. Using insights from string theory, black hole physics and quantum information theory we argue that the positive dark energy leads to a thermal volume law contribution to the entropy that overtakes the area law precisely at the cosmological horizon. Due to the competition between area and volume law entanglement the microscopic de Sitter states do not thermalise at sub-Hubble scales: they exhibit memory effects in the form of an entropy displacement caused by matter. The emergent laws of gravity contain an additional ‘dark’ gravitational force describing the ‘elastic’ response due to the entropy displacement. We derive an estimate of the strength of this extra force in terms of the baryonic mass, Newton’s constant and the Hubble acceleration scale a0 = cH0, and provide evidence for the fact that this additional ‘dark gravity force’ explains the observed phenomena in galaxies and clusters currently attributed to dark matter.
Microbial interaction
Microorganisms interacts with each other and can be physically associated with another organisms in a variety of ways.
One organism can be located on the surface of another organism as an ectobiont or located within another organism as endobiont.
Microbial interaction may be positive such as mutualism, proto-cooperation, commensalism or may be negative such as parasitism, predation or competition
Types of microbial interaction
Positive interaction: mutualism, proto-cooperation, commensalism
Negative interaction: Ammensalism (antagonism), parasitism, predation, competition
I. Mutualism:
It is defined as the relationship in which each organism in interaction gets benefits from association. It is an obligatory relationship in which mutualist and host are metabolically dependent on each other.
Mutualistic relationship is very specific where one member of association cannot be replaced by another species.
Mutualism require close physical contact between interacting organisms.
Relationship of mutualism allows organisms to exist in habitat that could not occupied by either species alone.
Mutualistic relationship between organisms allows them to act as a single organism.
Examples of mutualism:
i. Lichens:
Lichens are excellent example of mutualism.
They are the association of specific fungi and certain genus of algae. In lichen, fungal partner is called mycobiont and algal partner is called
II. Syntrophism:
It is an association in which the growth of one organism either depends on or improved by the substrate provided by another organism.
In syntrophism both organism in association gets benefits.
Compound A
Utilized by population 1
Compound B
Utilized by population 2
Compound C
utilized by both Population 1+2
Products
In this theoretical example of syntrophism, population 1 is able to utilize and metabolize compound A, forming compound B but cannot metabolize beyond compound B without co-operation of population 2. Population 2is unable to utilize compound A but it can metabolize compound B forming compound C. Then both population 1 and 2 are able to carry out metabolic reaction which leads to formation of end product that neither population could produce alone.
Examples of syntrophism:
i. Methanogenic ecosystem in sludge digester
Methane produced by methanogenic bacteria depends upon interspecies hydrogen transfer by other fermentative bacteria.
Anaerobic fermentative bacteria generate CO2 and H2 utilizing carbohydrates which is then utilized by methanogenic bacteria (Methanobacter) to produce methane.
ii. Lactobacillus arobinosus and Enterococcus faecalis:
In the minimal media, Lactobacillus arobinosus and Enterococcus faecalis are able to grow together but not alone.
The synergistic relationship between E. faecalis and L. arobinosus occurs in which E. faecalis require folic acid

Signatures of wave erosion in Titan’s coastsSérgio Sacani
The shorelines of Titan’s hydrocarbon seas trace flooded erosional landforms such as river valleys; however, it isunclear whether coastal erosion has subsequently altered these shorelines. Spacecraft observations and theo-retical models suggest that wind may cause waves to form on Titan’s seas, potentially driving coastal erosion, but the observational evidence of waves is indirect, and the processes affecting shoreline evolution on Titanremain unknown. No widely accepted framework exists for using shoreline morphology to quantitatively dis-cern coastal erosion mechanisms, even on Earth, where the dominant mechanisms are known. We combinelandscape evolution models with measurements of shoreline shape on Earth to characterize how differentcoastal erosion mechanisms affect shoreline morphology. Applying this framework to Titan, we find that theshorelines of Titan’s seas are most consistent with flooded landscapes that subsequently have been eroded bywaves, rather than a uniform erosional process or no coastal erosion, particularly if wave growth saturates atfetch lengths of tens of kilometers.

Compositions of iron-meteorite parent bodies constrainthe structure of the pr...Sérgio Sacani
Magmatic iron-meteorite parent bodies are the earliest planetesimals in the Solar System, and they preserve information about conditions and planet-forming processes in thesolar nebula. In this study, we include comprehensive elemental compositions andfractional-crystallization modeling for iron meteorites from the cores of five differenti-ated asteroids from the inner Solar System. Together with previous results of metalliccores from the outer Solar System, we conclude that asteroidal cores from the outerSolar System have smaller sizes, elevated siderophile-element abundances, and simplercrystallization processes than those from the inner Solar System. These differences arerelated to the formation locations of the parent asteroids because the solar protoplane-tary disk varied in redox conditions, elemental distributions, and dynamics at differentheliocentric distances. Using highly siderophile-element data from iron meteorites, wereconstruct the distribution of calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions (CAIs) across theprotoplanetary disk within the first million years of Solar-System history. CAIs, the firstsolids to condense in the Solar System, formed close to the Sun. They were, however, concentrated within the outer disk and depleted within the inner disk. Future modelsof the structure and evolution of the protoplanetary disk should account for this dis-tribution pattern of CAIs.
Evidence of Jet Activity from the Secondary Black Hole in the OJ 287 Binary S...Sérgio Sacani
Wereport the study of a huge optical intraday flare on 2021 November 12 at 2 a.m. UT in the blazar OJ287. In the binary black hole model, it is associated with an impact of the secondary black hole on the accretion disk of the primary. Our multifrequency observing campaign was set up to search for such a signature of the impact based on a prediction made 8 yr earlier. The first I-band results of the flare have already been reported by Kishore et al. (2024). Here we combine these data with our monitoring in the R-band. There is a big change in the R–I spectral index by 1.0 ±0.1 between the normal background and the flare, suggesting a new component of radiation. The polarization variation during the rise of the flare suggests the same. The limits on the source size place it most reasonably in the jet of the secondary BH. We then ask why we have not seen this phenomenon before. We show that OJ287 was never before observed with sufficient sensitivity on the night when the flare should have happened according to the binary model. We also study the probability that this flare is just an oversized example of intraday variability using the Krakow data set of intense monitoring between 2015 and 2023. We find that the occurrence of a flare of this size and rapidity is unlikely. In machine-readable Tables 1 and 2, we give the full orbit-linked historical light curve of OJ287 as well as the dense monitoring sample of Krakow.

The blessings all around us. english
1. THE BLESSINGS AROUND US
Dear friends, do you know how many blessings there are all around us? The air we breathe,
the water we drink, the fruits of various kinds, the brightly colored flowers, the delicious
foods, our flawlessly functioning bodies, and many other things, more numerous than we can
ever count, are all blessings for us. In other words, each one is a gift specially created for us
by God.
Let us now have a look at some examples of the blessings that surround us and learn how we
must be grateful to God for bestowing these blessings on us.
THE FRUITS WE LOVE
How many different kinds of fruit are there? The bananas, cherries, strawberries,
watermelons, melons, and grapes we so love to eat…
They all emerge from the soil, but they all have completely different colors, smells, and
tastes.
CHARACTER: Hey, these fruits are all packaged up!
This packaging, in other words their peel, stops them from rotting and keeps them clean,
fresh, and fragrant.
Fruits such as oranges and grapefruit, which are storehouses of Vitamin C, come in segments
so they are easy for us to eat. These fruits grow in the winter, just when we need Vitamin C to
keep us healthy.
CHARACTER (eating fruit noisily): This is really delicious!
In the summer, we need to drink a lot of water. It is, then, that fruits full of water such as
watermelons, melons, peaches, and grapes appear. We meet our water needs by eating a lot of
these fruits.
These details are all proofs that God has created fruits especially for us.
Had God so wished, there would have been only one kind of food on Earth. But He has
created a wide variety of things to eat and drink so that we might give thanks to Him.
CHARACTER (eating fruit noisily): And they all taste completely different…
This shows just how much God loves us. In our sacred scripture, the Noble Qur’an, God
describes these blessings as “good and wholesome things”:
… God provided you with good and wholesome things. That is God, your Lord.
Blessed be God, the Lord of all the worlds. (Surah Ghafir, 64)
CHARACTER: All these fruits were once just seeds, like tiny pieces of wood.
These tiny pieces began using water and the minerals in the earth, and grew to become very
large.
And, as we can see, they turned into plants.
2. But how do you think that the wide range of plants we know emerged from such tiny bodies?
CHARACTER: Have you never wondered? Right, let’s have a think, then…
All the colors, patterns, and scents in the plants we are now looking at, how long they are, the
number and shape of leaves they have, whether or not they bear fruit and all their other
features are hidden inside the seed.
In other words, every seed is a perfect data bank.
For example, the color, number of leaves, softness, and perfume of the rose are all pieces of
data.
It is such data that causes grapes to emerge in the form of sweet, water-filled sacs, from the
dry, stick-like stems of the vine. It is similar data, inside the seed, that makes grape peels
different to hazelnut shells which give them their different colors, tastes, and scents, as well
as the vitamins they contain, and makes one juicy and the other dry.
Human beings use computers to store information. Yet, compared to a tiny seed, even a
computer is very simple. That is because the seed contains hundreds of thousands of pages
worth of information; in addition, it is a highly complex system that scientists have not yet
fully understood and have so far been unable to copy.
This is because it is God Who created the seed, and God Who created the systems within it.
Every seed is enfolded by the knowledge of God. It grows under His inspiration and thus,
turns into a plant.
God reveals this in another verse from the Qur’an:
The keys of the Unseen are in His possession. No one knows them but Him. He
knows everything in the land and sea. No leaf falls without His knowing it. There is
no seed in the darkness of the earth, and nothing moist or dry which is not in a Clear
Book. (Surat al-An‘am, 59)
OUR FLAWLESSLY FUNCTIONING BODIES
Every detail in our bodies has been created for a specific purpose. Even the hairs on our
bodies have a purpose.
Our eyebrows and eyelashes only grow to a certain length. However, our hair grows
throughout the course of our lives, and that enables us to style it as we wish.
CHARACTER: Aaah! I don’t have any hair. (laughing slyly)
What would happen if our eyelashes grew in the same way as our hair? In that case, our
eyelashes would grow right over our eyes and stop us from seeing anything. Who tells our
eyelashes to stop growing once they have reached a specific length? When we think about
such questions, we can immediately see that every part of our body has been created.
There is also complete harmony in the way that our bones grow.
Our brains begin growing right from infancy. Our skulls also start growing, at the same time.
If our skulls and brains grew at different rates, and our skulls were small, while our brains
3. were large, then we could not live. But, no such thing actually happens. Our skulls grow, until
we reach a certain age, together with our brains, and protect our brains.
Fine. But why is it that our bones, which develop in proportion to our ages, stop growing once
they reach a particular size? What would happen if they kept growing?
For example, if the bones that make up our rib cages did not stop growing once they had
attained a certain size, then our bodies would be much less aesthetic than they actually are.
Yet, thanks to the careful working of our bone cells, no such thing ever happens.
CHARACTER: Isn’t that amazing? I was amazed, too, when I first heard about it!
Can a bone cell possess enough information to be able to do all these things?
How does it know when and where to grow or stop growing?
How is it that, although all the bones in our bodies consist of the same bone cells, some are
very flexible while others are quite rigid?
How do different bones know that they have to make up our hands?
How is it that the bones that comprise our arms, legs, and fingers grow to the same size on
both sides of our bodies?
These are all questions we need to ask ourselves in order to better understand the perfection in
our bodies.
It is absolutely impossible to claim that all these things happened by chance. The cells, of
which we are made, cannot take such decisions themselves. These things are all part of the
artistry of God, Who created us in the finest way. In one verse of the Qur’an He tells us:
… Look at the bones – how We raise them up and clothe them in flesh… (Surat al-
Baqara, 259)
THE IMPORTANCE OF WATER TO US
Much of the Earth is covered in water.
The seas and oceans make up three-quarters of the Earth’s surface.
And, there are countless lakes and rivers on the land. The snow that covers the peaks of high
mountains is water in frozen form. A large part of the Earth’s water is also up in the air. Every
cloud contains thousands of tons of water.
CHARACTER: Ahmad, don’t sit so close to the television! You’ll damage your eyes!
(laughing slyly)
There is also a certain amount of water vapor in the air we breathe. Water makes up around
70% of our bodies. There is more water than anything else in our cells. Even the blood that
runs through our bodies consists largely of water.
CHARACTER: In other words, life without water is impossible, friends.
4. Water, which is the foundation of life, has been created for life in all its aspects.
CHARACTER: Let us now have a look at some of the properties of water.
All substances in the world are denser in solid form than they are as liquids, all apart from
water. As every other substance, water shrinks as it cools down to 4 degrees Celsius, after
which however, unlike all others, it begins expanding. As it becomes ice, it expands to a
considerable extent.
That means that water in its solid state is less dense than water in liquid form. In other words,
according to the laws of physics, ice should have been heavier than water; but, it is actually
lighter.
This amazing state of affairs has a very important result: ice floats on water. This, in turn, has
its very own important consequences.
Winter temperatures drop below zero degrees in many parts of the world. This naturally
affects the seas and lakes. Water freezes when it reaches zero degrees Celsius. But, this
freezing only happens on the surface.
A 4o
C layer of water beneath the surface is enough to keep fish, and other creatures that live
in the water, alive.
Ice transmits very little of the cold in the air to the layer underneath it. Thus, even if the air
temperatures fall to as low as –50 degrees Celsius, the ice layer on the surface of the sea goes
down no more than 1 or 2 meters. Seals, bears, and other polar animals are thus able to make
holes in the ice and reach the open sea.
CHARACTER: What would happen if this was not the case and ice sank to the bottom?
In that case, the oceans, the seas, and the lakes would begin freezing from the bottom up.
Since there would be no layer of ice to keep out the cold from above, freezing would continue
upwards. Many of the lakes, seas, and oceans on Earth would, therefore, turn into solid blocks
of ice.
All that would be left would be a layer of water just a few meters thick on the surface. And,
even if air temperatures rose, the ice at the bottom would never melt. Nothing could,
therefore, live in the Earth’s seas. The absence of life, in the seas, would affect the balances in
the world, and life on land would also be impossible.
CHARACTER: If water behaved like other liquids, the Earth would be a dead planet! But,
thankfully, it doesn’t.
The fact is that, thanks to God’s might and flawless creation, our Earth is a planet filled with
life.
Other properties of water also play an important role in the Earth having a moderate and
balanced climate.
Thanks to the molecular properties of water, the seas heat up and cool down much slower
than the land. This means that, on land, there can be a temperature difference of up to 140
degrees between the hottest places and the coldest, while the temperature difference in the sea
ranges at most from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius.
5. The same thing applies to the temperature difference between day and night. The difference
between day and night can be as high as 20 to 30 degrees in dry climates, while it is no more
than a few degrees in the sea.
Thanks to the thermal characteristics of water, the difference in temperature between winter
and summer, or day and night, remains within limits that all life forms can tolerate.
If the proportion of the Earth that is covered in water compared to that covered in land were
less, then the temperature difference between night and day would increase enormously;
much of the land would turn into desert, and life would become impossible.
Water is obviously very important for life.
In the Qur’an, God reveals that He has given us water as a blessing:
We sent down a measured amount of water from heaven, and lodged it firmly in the
earth; and We are well able to remove it. By means of it We produce gardens of
dates and grapes for you, in which there are many fruits for you and from which
you eat. (Surat al-Muminun, 18-19)
LET US REFLECT ONCE MORE
The blessings we have seen in this film are just a very few of all those God has given us.
Everything we can think of and benefit from is a blessing created for us by God. Means of
transport is an example. We can go wherever we want by getting into a car or bus.
Our clothes protect us against the heat in summer and against the cold in winter.
There is no end to the list of blessings God bestows on us. Indeed, God tells us in the Qur’an
that this list is endless:
He has given you everything you have asked Him for. If you tried to number God’s
blessings, you could never count them… (Surah Ibrahim, 34)
We must, therefore, always bear these blessings in mind and give thanks to God for
bestowing them on us.
