The Beatles were a highly successful and influential English rock band formed in 1960 in Liverpool. They gained international fame by 1964 and broke up in 1970, during which time they released 12 studio albums that went to #1 in the UK. The band was composed of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Their 1969 album Abbey Road was an immediate commercial success and featured hit singles "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun." Abbey Road has since been hailed as one of their finest albums.
