Dear Depressed Banker,
Thank you for being bold enough to put down your thoughts regarding Fat
Cat Tuesday. Depressing as they are, having spent time with similar
mindsets, your feelings did not surprise us. If a highly talented and
successful banker like yourself, respected by colleagues and clients, loved
by his wife and children, and quietly contributing to the well-being of others
can still feel unhappy, depressed and suicidal over the various 'Fat Cats'
articles online and in the papers, then what would you feel like if you were
without any of the successes in your life? Would you be any happier?

Your problem is that you have taken on the negative thoughts and feelings
of mass consciousness which are promoted online and in various
newspaper stories. Our advice is to cease reading them. They're written by
individuals who have never met you and have not the slightest notion of
how hard you have to work to earn your money. Yes, earn your money.
These people who criticise bankers for their wealth are either too lazy or
too fearful to challenge themselves to take the necessary steps to increase
personal wealth, or are too comfortable and don't feel the need to work in
the banking environment. Envy, jealousy and hatred will target anything
and everything: the wealthy, the poor, the educated, the uneducated,
various religious groups, politicians, the Royal Family, footballers, ethnics
and those of a different sexual orientation, and will find justification for their
thoughts and actions.

You rise early in the morning to be at your desk and you leave (your desk)
12 hours later. You work through lunchtime (something we've warned you
about in the past) and on intensive days you don't eat all. This is a habit
you will need to change if you wish to continue in your job. When we meet
for our next one-to-one session or we should say one-to-two session, we'll
supply you with a list of nourishing meals you can take to work. You'll be
amazed when you learn of the healthy soups and broths you can carry in a
food flask. These consumed along with homemade sandwiches will ensure
that glucose levels need not fall during work hours. (We shall pen a letter
which should be passed to your staff so that they will understand that a
nourished brain will perform better than a fatigued or malnourished brain.)
Don't be afraid to inform them that this is the advice given to you by your
training consultants. They may wonder who on earth are

what gives us the right to advise bankers to alter well established working
practices. Your staff needn't worry. Our aim is to improve performance by

make use of the various tools of the 21st Century - computers, laptops,

We read the Evening Standard piece by Chris Blackhurst that kept you
awake the other night and laughed loudly. We would advise you to do
exactly the same. Fat Cat Tuesday has nothing to do with you. Your job
is to generate more wealth for your bank, your clients and yourself. Focus
on this and ignore scribes with their agendas. You are not responsible for
the salaries or wages earned by the average worker. Do not ruin your
health by any form of self-flagellation. What can be gained by self-
flagellation? Nothing that is positive. What will self-flagellation accomplish?
Everything that is negative. So ensure that you cease this
form of behaviour. It is detrimental to your health and self-worth, and in
time, if continued, will have a negative effect on your life, work and family.

Do you really want to end up on indefinite sick leave? Do you want to run
down your nervous system so that you have to take early retirement? Do
you want your wife to become stressed because her husband has fallen to
pieces? What about your children? How do you think they will feel
watching daddy slobbing around the house in a state of depression? Is this
what you really want your life to become? If you want your mental health to
improve you need to take firm steps to immunise yourself against
unconstructive criticism. Learn to shut out the nonsense that falls from the
pen of scribes who have never worked in your environment, or opinionated
commentators who have enough idle moments in their day to allow them to
air their views. Pay no heed to what they have to say. Stop reading about
them, stop thinking about them and put a stop to the angst that is eating
away at your soul.

What is popularity? Do you really require popularity from strangers? How
will this enable you to make decisions? It won't; it can't. Popularity amongst
your peers, colleagues, staff, family and friends is something noble and
worthy of thought. This is attained by giving and doing your best
(with love) in service of others.

You're already doing this. Yet you're still depressed. Why? Your
depression is because you're constantly worrying about the image of
bankers and how they are loathed by so many. As we've often told you, the
envious, jealous, lazy and fearful have a negative opinion of the world
around them. Each of us has a talent and can choose to make use of that
talent if we want, irrespective of challenges or difficulties encountered. If
those who think your salary is undeserved because the average worker
earns in a year what you have earned by late afternoon of the second
working day of the year, then perhaps they (your critics) should take a cut
in their own salaries. Surely their salaries aren't immune to slimming and
trimming? If they look at what they earn they will see that it is treble if not
quadruple the national average. What do these complainers pay their
cleaner or nanny? How many holidays do they go on a year? How many of
them own extra property? Are these the kind of people whose words or
opinions should make you lose confidence in yourself and the decisions
you make?
Critics bleating on about Fat Cat Tuesday should look into their own hearts
where they will discover that hypocrisy is resident. How many of them have
sold abodes to the highest bidder for a sum far in excess of what they
themselves paid.
Young Londoners are borrowing near four times their salary to get on the
property ladder.

How many home owners have rubbed their hands in glee as the value or
price of their brick pile rose exponentially every quarter? What exactly did
they do to the property to justify the price hike? Apart from dwelling in it -
not a lot in a many cases. Surely many maligners of bankers and their
bonuses, instead of grumbling about Fat Cat Tuesday, could help to
alleviate the housing problem (faced by low wage earners who can only
dream of owning a home)? If these home owners, when selling, were
to sell their properties at affordable prices (a noble act) it would enable
the low paid to get onto the property ladder, instead of being priced
out, and if the act were emulated by second home owners, it would

put an end to the buy-to-let brigade pricing out the deserving poor. Such
actions would surely save the State (and taxpayer) millions of pounds in
Housing Benefit and secure the presence in the capital of key workers who
have, to date, failed to gain from the house price bonanza?
How many landlords are willing to deal with councils and the problems
accrued from waiting for a housing benefit claim to be processed? Why
bother when one can get thrice as much- the equivalent of a Fat Cat
payment -from a professional more than eager to move into a
favoured catchment area than to haggle over the small matter of price?
From what The Gospel tells us regarding who should cast the first stone, it
appears that the your salary isn't the only thing making life intolerable for
the average worker. The behaviour of those claiming to champion
the cause of the living wage looks suspiciously like hypocrisy when it
comes to selling or renting out their own property.
Analyse the reason for your anxiety and you will see your thinking has
been irrational. Why should you be ashamed of celebrating a well-
earned bonus? Lottery winners are hailed by many as being lucky and
deserving when they hit the jackpot. What exactly did they do to acquire
the millions that so many holders of useless lottery tickets failed to do?
Nothing that can be seen as hard work if we are to accept that a wealthy
banker cannot justify his large payment. The jackpot winners bought
tickets and filled in a sequence of numbers, and hey bingo the correct balls
tumbled out and suddenly they were millionaires. Or in some cases
multimillionaires. How fortunate each multimillion pound lottery winner is
considered to be. Any ill feeling towards them? (Maybe from close
relatives, jealous friends or work colleagues.) Some winners remain
anonymous, but others appear in the same papers that encourage us to
despise bankers as greedy, selfish and immoral for celebrating their
bonuses. We are told that the lottery winner can live the wealthy life now
and will never have to work again. Idleness one could cynically say is
heartily encouraged. The National Lottery provides an opportunity for the
lucky few to join a privileged group: the fabulously wealthy. It is fair and
democratic and open to any UK or Isle of Man resident over the age of 16.

Don't flagellate yourself with the thought that the lottery has handed money
to many charities since its inception. You and your banking colleagues
have done the same for decades if not centuries. Perhaps if your critics
were to heed the advice in the Bible regarding coveting another's goods,
they would enjoy life better and happily contribute from their own deep
pockets instead of telling bankers to slim down.

formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be

We were impressed with the number of organisations that your bank has
assisted and also with what you have taken out of your own pocket to
alleviate misery and support small businesses, as well as college and
university students. So why punish yourself by allowing words designed to
provoke ill feeling to settle in your mind and unsettle you?
In 2009 Andrew Farrell wrote an article in Forbes about the effect the
collapse of Lehman Brothers had on charities. If your depression continues
and your health suffers, it will have a negative effect on your life, and will
eventually lead to problems at work. If you are sacked or have to leave
your job, this will affect the people and organisations you personally
support. Will any of the scribes who condemn your high pay come to your
support? No, they won't. For envy, jealousy, malice and idle gossip never
focuses on the good things bankers do.

It is in their best interest to promote the worst aspects of the world of
banking, as if greed and large salaries only exist in a banking bubble. Keep
your eyes and ears away from poisonous thoughts (e.g. Fat Cat
Tuesday) which are designed to sow disaffection amongst the average
worker. The same poisonous thoughts are turned upon migrant workers
who are often accused of depriving British workers of the chance to work in
the same low paid jobs that has caused Chris Blackhurst's quill to scratch
away with such venom. These same migrant workers are also said to flow
to these shores in droves to lap up the dole money which will be freely and
generously doled out to them. Such is the joy, pleasure and luxury of life
on the dole.
In your borough there's an unemployment office hidden away from
the busy High Street. Ask anyone who has had the misfortune of having to
explain efforts made to find work over the last fortnight to indifferent staff
at that dole office, if bankers or Fat Cat Tuesday are to blame for the way
they were treated. Ask anyone who has had their housing benefit cut or
their benefit payments stopped, because an official felt it was necessary, if
bankers can be blamed for this. Surely you know of a successful
businessman who continued to sign on for 18 months after his benefit
payment was stopped at a time when he was trying to get the service he
had set up off the ground? Didn't you tell us that not one letter was sent to
inquire how he was surviving?
Fortunately his determination saw him through a challenging period and
his life is prosperous now. He laughs whenever he hears stories about so-
called fat cats making life a misery for the poor because he knows and
recognises the agenda behind this kind of propaganda. We would advise
you to pay him a visit and ask him how he managed to maintain his sanity.

Look into the eyes of your children and see the love and admiration they
have for you. Their love and admiration for their daddy is evident. They're
bright healthy children and we were impressed with the confidence
they display when conversing with adults. If you accept the stories that
bankers are to blame for the disparity in wages or wealth in this country, it
will affect how you enjoy family life. Fat Cat Tuesday or the disparity in
wages is not your fault, just as the sick or deformed children born every
year, or the cycling or car accidents that take place every year are also
not your fault. So why concern yourself with things that are not your doing?
"As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he". This Biblical quote is worth
noting. "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" is another
important quote that many should heed. Many have moved from poverty
to a wealthy environment by the sheer effort of will backed by strong
desire. They did so because they wanted wealth and believed it was their
right to be wealthy and were determined to be wealthy. History is filled with
such individuals. Remember this the next time you indulge in depressive
thoughts about how bankers are pariahs. Your friend, the successful
businessman, was also considered to be a pariah as he attempted to
improve his lot in life. So society's view of what group is deemed to be
labelled pariahs is not worth heeding.
Journalists will write. Good journalists inform their readers of truths not
hearsay. Good journalists write balanced articles and attempt to inspire
their readers. However, leaving readers with the feeling that someone else
is responsible for their ills or society's ills is poor journalism. No matter how
they're dressed or promoted, words selected to promote personal prejudice
and bias can only harm the reader who accepts them as Truth. You harm
your health when you allow yourself to react to false accusations. Did you
steal your money? Did you swindle anyone? To suggest that you are a fat
cat indulging in another bout of deliberation on the need to alleviate
poverty and inequality as you get together in the luxurious Swiss ski resort
of Davros is poor journalism. It matters not what reference source is used,
i.e. the High Pay Centre think tank. It is still poor journalism because it
doesn't present a balanced view and neither does it inspire.

forms in your own mind, unless you hold to the truth that there is no

You work on many weekends and put in long hours during the week as do
many low paid workers. Each of us has inner reserves of power and
energy as well as the ability to improve our own lives. Mentally you have
not accepted low pay; many have and truly believe that they will never be
rich or well paid. It is their belief and the falsehoods they have accepted
that imprison them not you or your large salary. Remove the idea from
your mind that your pay packet is depriving someone else from earning.
Don't permit yourself to be depressed by the negative feelings promoted by
various individuals. They have their agenda. Focus on the good things you
have achieved in your life and remind yourself of the contribution you have
made in taxes and other financial donations to the society you dwell in.
You are no more responsible for the poverty in this country than the highly
paid sportsmen, musicians, actors and businessmen who fill the pages of
our magazines and newspapers. Greed and overpayment (the latter is
subjective) exists in all areas of life. You shouldn't feel you have to
apologise or feel guilty for the actions or behaviour of those bankers who
behave in a certain way. Their character has nothing to do with the fact
that they're bankers. If they were footballers, they would have agents,
lawyers and marketing men carving out a large slice of the financial cake
that has made football a multibillion global business and wouldn't be
troubled by the rising cost of watching a game home or away; if they were
politicians they would ensure their expense accounts were covered in as
many areas of their livelihood as possible; as physicians they would serve
their own interests and not that of their patients; if they were
schoolteachers the inferior lessons received by pupils deemed to be
socially inferior would not match the monthly salary paid into their bank
account; if they were charity workers they would ensure that a high
percentage of the money donated by the public
would enter their own pocket. Selfishness is part of their nature and they
have selected to lead selfishness lives. It is not how every banker,
footballer, politician, physician, schoolteacher or charity worker behaves.
So why should anyone from these professions allow themselves to be
affected by the bad actions of others?

Before our next session, create a list of all the good you have done since
becoming a banker. Focus on what you were able to do not on what you
were unable to do. Make it a detailed list and don't refrain from feeling
pleased with what you've achieved. Your depressive state is similar to one
who feels they have accomplished nothing or that they don't deserve the
things they own. No wonder you're using Class A drugs and alcohol to
numb the pain you feel. How long do you think you can use drink and
drugs to drive away the anguish you're feeling? Your pain is
not allowing you to see or enjoy the wonderful things you've achieved over
the years. You remind us of actors and musicians who live miserable
lives once away from the public gaze. If they stepped out of themselves for
half an hour and analysed the joy their films or songs have brought to
millions around the world, they would realise that there was no reason for
their miserable mental state.
Yes, we know you've been seeing a therapist for the last six years. You trot
over to her Harley Street
practice and tell all during the half hour session that has
been allocated to you. She indulges your misery by telling you that your
condition is genetic and something you will have to live with for the rest of
your life, then you depart after signing over a large cheque. She makes an
excellent living from your visits and you make no progress whatsoever
from your visits. Your dealer comes quietly to see you in the wine bar you
drink at or to your home when the family is away. You pay for what
exactly? Chemicals that leave you feeling high one moment and low the
next. We shan't mention your excessive alcohol intake, but don't you think
drinking vintage wine when blind drunk is a waste? How can you possibly
enjoy the flavour of those extremely fine wines if you're weeping as you
drink them? Indulging in a guilt trip about your wealthy lifestyle and at the
same time castigating yourself for being an uncaring privileged bastard
is illogical. This pointless self-torture has to stop.

It may take two or three days to write down all the good you've achieved,
but don't let this bother you. It's not easy to get away from the habit of
thinking negatively about ourselves, our lives or about life in general.
Misery is an art successful people are encouraged to indulge in. It seems
to make the unsuccessful feel that misery is the gods' way of punishing
those they deem to have more than their fair share of good fortune. Your
misery is their joy. 'Yes, for all his wealth the guy is still unhappy.' How
many times has this been uttered? Cease to be a living proof that wealth
and misery go hand in hand. They don't. They never have. Feelings of
misery are as a result of the type of thoughts entertained in the mind. Just
as happy people can be found all over the planet, so can unhappy people.
Happy wealthy people, unhappy wealthy people, happy poor
people, unhappy poor people, happy sick people, unhappy sick
people, happy successful people and unhappy unsuccessful
people exist in all areas of life.

Depressing as they are, having spent time with similar mindsets, your feelings did not surprise us. If a highly talented and successful banker like yourself, respected by colleagues and clients, loved by his wife and children, and quietly contributing to the well-being of others can still feel unhappy, depressed and suicidal over the various 'Fat Cats' articles online and in the papers, then what would you feel like if you were without any of the successes in your life? Would you be any happier? "There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe." Wallace D. Wattles Your problem is that you have taken on the negative thoughts and feelings of mass consciousness which are promoted online and in various newspaper stories. Our advice is to cease reading them. They're written by individuals who have never met you and have not the slightest notion of how hard you have to work to earn your money. Yes, earn your money. These people who criticise bankers for their wealth are either too lazy or too fearful to challenge themselves to take the necessary steps to increase personal wealth, or are too comfortable and don't feel the need to work in the banking environment. Envy, jealousy and hatred will target anything and everything: the wealthy, the poor, the educated, the uneducated, various religious groups, politicians, the Royal Family, footballers, ethnics and those of a different sexual orientation, and will find justification for their thoughts and actions.

You work through lunchtime (something we've warned you about in the past) and on intensive days you don't eat all. This is a habit you will need to change if you wish to continue in your job. When we meet for our next one-to-one session or we should say one-to-two session, we'll supply you with a list of nourishing meals you can take to work. You'll be amazed when you learn of the healthy soups and broths you can carry in a food flask. These consumed along with homemade sandwiches will ensure that glucose levels need not fall during work hours. Okonkwo 2015   4   We read the Evening Standard piece by Chris Blackhurst that kept you awake the other night and laughed loudly. We would advise you to do exactly the same. Fat Cat Tuesday has nothing to do with you. Your job is to generate more wealth for your bank, your clients and yourself. Focus on this and ignore scribes with their agendas. You are not responsible for the salaries or wages earned by the average worker. Do not ruin your health by any form of self-flagellation. What can be gained by self- flagellation? Nothing that is positive. What will self-flagellation accomplish? Everything that is negative. So ensure that you cease this form of behaviour. It is detrimental to your health and self-worth, and in time, if continued, will have a negative effect on your life, work and family. Do you want to run down your nervous system so that you have to take early retirement? Do you want your wife to become stressed because her husband has fallen to pieces? What about your children? How do you think they will feel watching daddy slobbing around the house in a state of depression? Is this what you really want your life to become? If you want your mental health to improve you need to take firm steps to immunise yourself against unconstructive criticism. Learn to shut out the nonsense that falls from the pen of scribes who have never worked in your environment, or opinionated commentators who have enough idle moments in their day to allow them to air their views. Pay no heed to what they have to say. Stop reading about them, stop thinking about them and put a stop to the angst that is eating away at your soul. Your depression is because you're constantly worrying about the image of bankers and how they are loathed by so many. As we've often told you, the envious, jealous, lazy and fearful have a negative opinion of the world around them. Each of us has a talent and can choose to make use of that talent if we want, irrespective of challenges or difficulties encountered. If those who think your salary is undeserved because the average worker earns in a year what you have earned by late afternoon of the second working day of the year, then perhaps they (your critics) should take a cut in their own salaries. Surely their salaries aren't immune to slimming and trimming? If they look at what they earn they will see that it is treble if not quadruple the national average. What do these complainers pay their cleaner or nanny? How many holidays do they go on a year? How many of them own extra property? Are these the kind of people whose words or opinions should make you lose confidence in yourself and the decisions you make? Critics bleating on about Fat Cat Tuesday should look into their own hearts where they will discover that hypocrisy is resident. How many of them have sold abodes to the highest bidder for a sum far in excess of what they themselves paid. Surely many maligners of bankers and their bonuses, instead of grumbling about Fat Cat Tuesday, could help to alleviate the housing problem (faced by low wage earners who can only dream of owning a home)? If these home owners, when selling, were to sell their properties at affordable prices (a noble act) it would enable the low paid to get onto the property ladder, instead of being priced out, and if the act were emulated by second home owners, it would

Such actions would surely save the State (and taxpayer) millions of pounds in Housing Benefit and secure the presence in the capital of key workers who have, to date, failed to gain from the house price bonanza? How many landlords are willing to deal with councils and the problems accrued from waiting for a housing benefit claim to be processed? Why bother when one can get thrice as much- the equivalent of a Fat Cat payment -from a professional more than eager to move into a favoured catchment area than to haggle over the small matter of price? From what The Gospel tells us regarding who should cast the first stone, it appears that the your salary isn't the only thing making life intolerable for the average worker. The behaviour of those claiming to champion the cause of the living wage looks suspiciously like hypocrisy when it comes to selling or renting out their own property. Analyse the reason for your anxiety and you will see your thinking has been irrational. Why should you be ashamed of celebrating a well- earned bonus? Lottery winners are hailed by many as being lucky and deserving when they hit the jackpot. What exactly did they do to acquire the millions that so many holders of useless lottery tickets failed to do? Nothing that can be seen as hard work if we are to accept that a wealthy banker cannot justify his large payment. The jackpot winners bought tickets and filled in a sequence of numbers, and hey bingo the correct balls tumbled out and suddenly they were millionaires. Or in some cases multimillionaires. How fortunate each multimillion pound lottery winner is considered to be. Any ill feeling towards them? (Maybe from close relatives, jealous friends or work colleagues.) Some winners remain anonymous, but others appear in the same papers that encourage us to despise bankers as greedy, selfish and immoral for celebrating their bonuses. We are told that the lottery winner can live the wealthy life now and will never have to work again. Idleness one could cynically say is heartily encouraged. The National Lottery provides an opportunity for the lucky few to join a privileged group: the fabulously wealthy. It is fair and democratic and open to any UK or Isle of Man resident over the age of 16. As long you can find the sum of £2 you can also buy a EuroMillions ticket.

Okonkwo 2015   7   Don't flagellate yourself with the thought that the lottery has handed money to many charities since its inception. You and your banking colleagues have done the same for decades if not centuries. Perhaps if your critics were to heed the advice in the Bible regarding coveting another's goods, they would enjoy life better and happily contribute from their own deep pockets instead of telling bankers to slim down. "Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created." Wallace D. Wattles We were impressed with the number of organisations that your bank has assisted and also with what you have taken out of your own pocket to alleviate misery and support small businesses, as well as college and university students. So why punish yourself by allowing words designed to provoke ill feeling to settle in your mind and unsettle you? In 2009 Andrew Farrell wrote an article in Forbes about the effect the collapse of Lehman Brothers had on charities. If your depression continues and your health suffers, it will have a negative effect on your life, and will eventually lead to problems at work. If you are sacked or have to leave your job, this will affect the people and organisations you personally support. Will any of the scribes who condemn your high pay come to your support? No, they won't. For envy, jealousy, malice and idle gossip never focuses on the good things bankers do. Okonkwo 2015   8   It is in their best interest to promote the worst aspects of the world of banking, as if greed and large salaries only exist in a banking bubble. Keep your eyes and ears away from poisonous thoughts (e.g. Fat Cat Tuesday) which are designed to sow disaffection amongst the average worker. The same poisonous thoughts are turned upon migrant workers who are often accused of depriving British workers of the chance to work in the same low paid jobs that has caused Chris Blackhurst's quill to scratch away with such venom. These same migrant workers are also said to flow to these shores in droves to lap up the dole money which will be freely and generously doled out to them. Such is the joy, pleasure and luxury of life on the dole. In your borough there's an unemployment office hidden away from the busy High Street. Ask anyone who has had the misfortune of having to explain efforts made to find work over the last fortnight to indifferent staff at that dole office, if bankers or Fat Cat Tuesday are to blame for the way they were treated. Ask anyone who has had their housing benefit cut or their benefit payments stopped, because an official felt it was necessary, if bankers can be blamed for this. Surely you know of a successful businessman who continued to sign on for 18 months after his benefit payment was stopped at a time when he was trying to get the service he had set up off the ground? Didn't you tell us that not one letter was sent to inquire how he was surviving? Fortunately his determination saw him through a challenging period and his life is prosperous now. He laughs whenever he hears stories about so- called fat cats making life a misery for the poor because he knows and recognises the agenda behind this kind of propaganda. We would advise you to pay him a visit and ask him how he managed to maintain his sanity. Okonkwo 2015   9   Look into the eyes of your children and see the love and admiration they have for you. Their love and admiration for their daddy is evident. They're bright healthy children and we were impressed with the confidence they display when conversing with adults. If you accept the stories that bankers are to blame for the disparity in wages or wealth in this country, it will affect how you enjoy family life. Fat Cat Tuesday or the disparity in wages is not your fault, just as the sick or deformed children born every year, or the cycling or car accidents that take place every year are also not your fault. So why concern yourself with things that are not your doing? "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he". This Biblical quote is worth noting. "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" is another important quote that many should heed. Many have moved from poverty to a wealthy environment by the sheer effort of will backed by strong desire. They did so because they wanted wealth and believed it was their right to be wealthy and were determined to be wealthy. History is filled with such individuals. Remember this the next time you indulge in depressive thoughts about how bankers are pariahs. Your friend, the successful businessman, was also considered to be a pariah as he attempted to improve his lot in life. So society's view of what group is deemed to be labelled pariahs is not worth heeding. Journalists will write. Good journalists inform their readers of truths not hearsay. Good journalists write balanced articles and attempt to inspire their readers. However, leaving readers with the feeling that someone else is responsible for their ills or society's ills is poor journalism. No matter how they're dressed or promoted, words selected to promote personal prejudice and bias can only harm the reader who accepts them as Truth. You harm your health when you allow yourself to react to false accusations. Did you steal your money? Did you swindle anyone? To suggest that you are a fat cat indulging in another bout of deliberation on the need to alleviate poverty and inequality as you get together in the luxurious Swiss ski resort of Davros is poor journalism. It matters not what reference source is used, i.e. the High Pay Centre think tank. It is still poor journalism because it doesn't present a balanced view and neither does it inspire.

Okonkwo 2015   10   "To look upon the appearances of poverty will produce corresponding forms in your own mind, unless you hold to the truth that there is no poverty; there is only abundance." Wallace D. Wattles You work on many weekends and put in long hours during the week as do many low paid workers. Each of us has inner reserves of power and energy as well as the ability to improve our own lives. Mentally you have not accepted low pay; many have and truly believe that they will never be rich or well paid. It is their belief and the falsehoods they have accepted that imprison them not you or your large salary. Remove the idea from your mind that your pay packet is depriving someone else from earning. Don't permit yourself to be depressed by the negative feelings promoted by various individuals. They have their agenda. Focus on the good things you have achieved in your life and remind yourself of the contribution you have made in taxes and other financial donations to the society you dwell in. You are no more responsible for the poverty in this country than the highly paid sportsmen, musicians, actors and businessmen who fill the pages of our magazines and newspapers. Greed and overpayment (the latter is subjective) exists in all areas of life. You shouldn't feel you have to apologise or feel guilty for the actions or behaviour of those bankers who behave in a certain way. Their character has nothing to do with the fact that they're bankers. If they were footballers, they would have agents, lawyers and marketing men carving out a large slice of the financial cake that has made football a multibillion global business and wouldn't be troubled by the rising cost of watching a game home or away; if they were politicians they would ensure their expense accounts were covered in as many areas of their livelihood as possible; as physicians they would serve their own interests and not that of their patients; if they were schoolteachers the inferior lessons received by pupils deemed to be socially inferior would not match the monthly salary paid into their bank account; if they were charity workers they would ensure that a high percentage of the money donated by the public would enter their own pocket. Selfishness is part of their nature and they have selected to lead selfishness lives. It is not how every banker, footballer, politician, physician, schoolteacher or charity worker behaves. So why should anyone from these professions allow themselves to be affected by the bad actions of others?

Okonkwo 2015   11   Before our next session, create a list of all the good you have done since becoming a banker. Focus on what you were able to do not on what you were unable to do. Make it a detailed list and don't refrain from feeling pleased with what you've achieved. Your depressive state is similar to one who feels they have accomplished nothing or that they don't deserve the things they own. No wonder you're using Class A drugs and alcohol to numb the pain you feel. How long do you think you can use drink and drugs to drive away the anguish you're feeling? Your pain is not allowing you to see or enjoy the wonderful things you've achieved over the years. You remind us of actors and musicians who live miserable lives once away from the public gaze. If they stepped out of themselves for half an hour and analysed the joy their films or songs have brought to millions around the world, they would realise that there was no reason for their miserable mental state. Yes, we know you've been seeing a therapist for the last six years. You trot over to her Harley Street practice and tell all during the half hour session that has been allocated to you. She indulges your misery by telling you that your condition is genetic and something you will have to live with for the rest of your life, then you depart after signing over a large cheque. She makes an excellent living from your visits and you make no progress whatsoever from your visits. Your dealer comes quietly to see you in the wine bar you drink at or to your home when the family is away. You pay for what exactly? Chemicals that leave you feeling high one moment and low the next. We shan't mention your excessive alcohol intake, but don't you think drinking vintage wine when blind drunk is a waste? How can you possibly enjoy the flavour of those extremely fine wines if you're weeping as you drink them? Indulging in a guilt trip about your wealthy lifestyle and at the same time castigating yourself for being an uncaring privileged bastard is illogical. This pointless self-torture has to stop. Okonkwo 2015   12   It may take two or three days to write down all the good you've achieved, but don't let this bother you. It's not easy to get away from the habit of thinking negatively about ourselves, our lives or about life in general. Misery is an art successful people are encouraged to indulge in. It seems to make the unsuccessful feel that misery is the gods' way of punishing those they deem to have more than their fair share of good fortune. Your misery is their joy. 'Yes, for all his wealth the guy is still unhappy.' How many times has this been uttered? Cease to be a living proof that wealth and misery go hand in hand. They don't. They never have. Feelings of misery are as a result of the type of thoughts entertained in the mind. Just as happy people can be found all over the planet, so can unhappy people. Happy wealthy people, unhappy wealthy people, happy poor people, unhappy poor people, happy sick people, unhappy sick people, happy successful people and unhappy unsuccessful people exist in all areas of life.
