The document describes the initial efforts to set up a computing cluster at ANDC College. It discusses how the project started through discussions between the principal and director of OpenLX in 2007. The team was given 18-20 old machines to work with, many of which required upgrades and repairs. They first tried using ClusterKnoppix but it did not support their older network cards. After several failed attempts with other solutions, they were able to get a basic cluster running using Parallel Knoppix and Etherboot networking boot. The future plans included a more permanent cluster solution and implementing parallel algorithms.
