The document summarizes a cooperation between Wikimedia Germany and the German Federal Archives to make 100,000 images from the Archives freely available on Wikipedia. Wikimedia Germany negotiated for over a year to get the images released under a Creative Commons license. They then spent 3 months matching the image metadata to Wikipedia, library, and other records to improve discoverability. The partnership has been very successful, increasing traffic to both Wikipedia and the Archives. Wikimedia hopes to expand these types of partnerships to more cultural heritage institutions.
Presentation by Henk Vanstappen (PACKED) and Lotte Belice Baltussen (Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision) about the Open Culture Data initiative. Given at the DISH 2013 conference in Rotterdam, 3 December 2013.
Today I want to talk about abundance, the deluge of content that we produce, also in the Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM)-sector. How can we make such abundance of content meaningful and useful to citizens, researchers, educators and students? How can we make it easier for them to find that specific needle in the haystack?

Presentation to Open GLAM México, 6 September 2018, Mexico City. This event linked numerous institutions to encourage dialogue around the Open GLAM movement and was jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, the National Institute of Fine Arts, the Cultural Center of Spain in Mexico and Wikimedia México.
The aims of Open GLAM México were:
• Socialise good practices and policies generated by GLAM institutions to distribute data and digital objects, in national and international context.
• Promote the opening of digital collections in public and private institutions in Mexico.
• Establish an open dialogue on copyright issues focused on the use, reuse and appropriation of digital collections of cultural heritage.

In this paper, we present a case study where partial
collections of two audiovisual archives (Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision and VIAA) are connected by aligning their thesauri. We report on the conversion of one of the thesauri to SKOS and on the subsequent application of an interactive alignment tool CultuurLINK. Finally, we introduce an cross-collection browser which uses the produced alignment to allow users to explore connections between the two collections.

Given the provocation that cultural institutions should be engaging in mobile platforms to provide the public with improved access to their archival collections, many institutions have been experimenting with hybrid projects. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) facilitated one experiment during 2011 to understand how it could leverage augmented reality (AR) technologies to promote public access to its archival collections. This presentation describes one ABC AR project, MyBurb. MyBurb was developed to publish ABC Australian suburban archives, while also encouraging users to contribute their personal collections to co-create an historical urban landscape. Burgess and Banks (2010) define co-creation as “the ways in which platform providers (however imperfectly) integrate user-participation into their own models of production” (2010, p. 298). Co-creation at the ABC aligns with its public service remit to foster national culture and engage the public sphere (Cunningham, 2013).

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. • Approved as a charitable organisation
• Money comes almost exclusively from donations

3. Bundesarchiv
http://www.bundesarchiv.de
• higher federal authority
• Purpose: to permanently collect and keep
archive material and to make it usable for
scientific purposesI
• Operating under the Federal Archive Act of
1988
• Currently owns about 10 million images, many
of them not yet digitalized
4. Cooperation
• In 2007, the Bundesarchiv started its online
image repository
• It was possible to look at thumbnails,
everything else was to be paid for
• No freely licensed material
• So we wrote a friendly email...
• 12 months of negotiation later, a contract
between the Bundesarchiv and Wikimedia
Germany was signed
5. Terms of the Agreement
• The Bundesarchiv is providing Wikimedia with
images under Creative Commons (by-sa)
• The images are usually scaled down
• The minimum size is currently 800px on the
larger side
• Wikimedia in return is going to help match
person authority file records between
– Wikipedia
– Bundesarchiv
– German National Library (PND)
6. Status
• Matching status completed after 3 months
• Feedback from the Wikipedia community was
extremely positive
• Images were integrated into Wikipedia almost
instantly
• Limitation to 800px is currently considered to
be acceptable
• Feedback to the Bundesarchive was positive
as well, their traffic is now at all-time highs
20. Ongoing Efforts
• We are looking for more archives who are
willing to enter such a cooperation
• We are also trying to get access to
bibliographic databases and authority files to
improve our ability for these matching
processes
• On March 31st, we signed a new cooperation
agreement with the State and University
Library of Saxony with similar parameters
• In the very long run, we anticipate this model
to be attractive even for more commercially
oriented image archives
