Dr. Dominic D'Agostino gave the keynote address at the University of Tampa's Second Annual Sport Nutrition and Human Performance Conference. The conference brought together experts from across the country for two days of presentations on how macronutrients like carbohydrates, proteins, and fats affect training strategies to enhance performance and body composition. Presenters discussed emerging evidence on using a ketogenic diet and fat as fuel. The conference provided attendees the chance to take an exam to become a Certified Sports Nutritionist.

2. Introduction
 Dr. Dominic D'Agostino currently heads a research
program to develop and test neuroprotective and
cancer therapies while working as an assistant
professor in molecular pharmacology and physiology
at the University of South Florida. He holds a PhD in
physiology and neuroscience from the University of
Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. His research
on metabolic therapies evolved from a projects funded
by the Office of Naval Research (ONR), which is part
of the Department of Defense (DoD). Dr. Dominic
D'Agostino gave the keynote address that highlighted
the ONR research titled Ketogenic Dieting: Emerging
Evidence of Fat and Ketones as Fuel in conjunction
with Dr. Jeff Volek at the University of Tampa's
Second Annual Sport Nutrition and Human
Performance Conference.

3. Sport Nutrition
 In February, the Department of Health
Sciences and Human Performance at the
University of Tampa hosted its Second Annual
Sport Nutrition and Human Performance
Conference. One of the most important events
uniting the topic of sports nutrition with human
performance, this conference brought experts
from across the country together at the
Vaughn Center on the university's campus for
two full days of presentations and discussion.

4. Conclusion
 With the theme of macronutrients for this
year's Annual Sport Nutrition and Human
Performance Conference, talks addressed
various aspects of how macronutrients affect
training strategies for enhancing physical
performance and body composition.
Presenters at the event included Dr. Jose
Antonio, Dr. Fred Hatfield, and Dr. Jacob
Wilson. The conference also offered attendees
the opportunity to take the Certified Sports
Nutritionist (CISSN) exam.
