Editor's Notes

  • #3 The STaR chart is a tool used by teachers for planning and self assessing alignment with the long-range plan for technology, 2006-2020.
  • #4 TEA developed the Star Chart as an online resource tool for campuses and districts to use to perform a self-assessment of technology integration into their curriculum. The STaR chart is a rubric used to check the progress in preparing Texas K-12 schools. NCLB requires students to be technology literate by the end of the eight grade.
  • #6 The Texas Campus Star chart is used by campuses and districts to plan the use of technology on campuses. It helps with budgeting for technology based evaluations and meeting the NCLB requirements. A profile is produced on the status of a campuses progress towards the Long Range Plan for Technology (LRPT) and NCLB goals.
  • #8 The district assesses 2 nd and 5 th graders on technology proficiency. Teachers are able to access their class data using the eduphoria database system. Results are given by grade level, teacher and individual student.
  • #11 The Texas Campus Start Chart will show the progress made by a campus in one of the four areas: Early Tech, Developing Tech, Advanced Tech, or Target Tech.
  • #12 As you can see we are strong in leadership and infrastructure on our campus, but have room for improvement in other areas. We need to be utilizing our campus and district technologist to integrate and apply technology into your lessons.
  • #13 Now let’s review our campus technology goals. Students need to be prepared for the future by using technology to complete assignments. Lessons should be design to allow students accessibility to technology tools. Teachers need to be using, modeling and facilitating technology tools daily. Technology needs to be in the hands of the students through collaborative problem solving projects.
