TFL, Inc. specializes in the design and manufacture of precast refractory shapes. Most of our shapes are custom designed to fit a particular application. Our shapes are prefired to 1250 deg. F (676 deg. C). We cast our shapes using a variety of castable materials from different refractory manufacturers.

5. Precast Shapes…
Lining Benefits are obvious:
Installation variables are eliminated
Water content, Mix time, Vibration, Curing
Physical properties are optimized
greater lining durability
Mechanical Strength, Erosion Resistance, Porosity
Fired from all sides, through the total thickness
Up to 1250o
F (680o
C)
Are homogeneous, with similar properties
throughout the thickness of the shape

6. Precast Shapes…
Lining Benefits (cont’d):
More predictable lining performance
Independent, isolated shapes can
reduce lining stresses
Can be made from any suitable castable

7. Precast Shapes…
Job Benefits
Speed of installation means reduced costs,
reduced downtime
Reduced installation manpower needs vs.
casting or guniting
(increased competitiveness on bids!)
Pre-fired in our shop (field bake-out may be
eliminated)
Repeatable - close tolerances ensure a good fit

8. Precast Shapes…
Job Benefits, cont’d
Cleaner, safer installation vs. casting or gunite (dust,
rebound, hoses, etc.)
Less material used (waste, rebound losses, etc.)
Shapes can be pre-ordered, well in advance of
project start date
Spares can be kept on hand for emergency needs
Repairs can be isolated in the future
Anchor attachment point can be re-used (possibly
eliminating welding on future repairs)
Lifting features incorporated into the design
