 Chapter 2: Media arts education (p. 47-92)

           All children are digital natives. So they know
                     more than I do about media art.


                       I agree.
   Besides, I don’t have ipads in my classroom &
   teaching my students literacy and numeracy is
     more important than teaching media art.

Media Art in a nutshell
• “…communication technologies and digital
  materials to tell stories and explore concepts for
  diverse purposes and audiences.” (ACARA, 2011,
  p. 12)
• Four areas: producer – message – medium –
  audience
• Forms can include: television, film, photography,
  print, radio, computer, other electronic forms…
• Making can include: cropping, distributing,
  formatting, positioning, recording, special
  effects… (and more)

     photos (ipad, camera, phone). You might like
     to consider open/closed composition,
     lighting, effects, angles etc.

Top left = a display for a school festival (students still made decisions about the artwork but I guided them)Top right = chopsticks, part of a whole school series of artworks. Every student painted a pair of chopsticks and glued them on the artworkBottom 3 are child centredBottom left = a costume and background designed by a student. Given guidance but they could choose any materials.Bottom middle = from one of Sandy’s tutesBottom right = a student experimenting with chalk to create effects with light
