Teotihuacán was a large city in central Mexico between 100 BC and 550 AD. It had a complex social hierarchy led by a Tlatoani emperor and priestly caste. The Aztec believed the world would end in 2012. They practiced human sacrifice to gods like Quetzalcoatl and Huitzilpochtli and grew crops like corn, cocoa and tomatoes while also making pottery and jewelry. The city was highly structured with wide roads, water systems, and pyramids, temples and palaces decorated with murals.
