The technologies and people we are designing experiences for are constantly changing, in most cases they are changing at a rate that is difficult keep up with. When we think about how our teams are structured and the design processes we use in light of this challenge, a new design problem (or problem space) emerges, one that requires us to focus inward. How do we structure our teams and processes to be resilient? What would happen if we looked at our teams and design process as IA’s, Designers, Researchers? What strategies would we put in place to help them be successful? This talk will look at challenges we face leading, supporting, or simply being a part of design teams creating experiences for user groups with changing technological needs.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

I feel I am in the top in some areas such as:

do long term plans in some areas such as
education, I need to improve and handle
some difficult situations that I am facing.
4. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
I feel , I need to improve and to explore on
technical knowledge, life goes quickly and I
need to run to reach my own knowledge.
5. DEVELOPING ACTIONS
In my life I have made changes, I have
preferred knowledge before than social life,
and that is the difference. I need to learn and
to make plans to develop knowledge.
6. PINNACKLE MOMENTS
I have not made this before, but I will do it,
since now, sometimes I forget the special
moments and also to appreciate them . For
example: The first time that I tweeted for an
assignment it was an achievement for me.
7. MYSELF EVALUATION
Sometimes I feel I am very hard with myself ,
sometimes I do not say I will do, I say myself I
must do or I must change this to improve that. I
know my weakness and it is technology but I will
improve it.
8. WHAT IS GOING AROUND ME?
I do not know , because I am focused with this
new goal, so I need to be aware of what is
going around me. I have seen changes in my
life in some areas but it is different I think.
9. READY FOR CHANGES
Of course I am ready for changes. Right now,
I am in a big and awesome change, I never
thought to study technology ; and now I am
doing it. I do not need opportunities right
now, but maybe later. I am happy with my
job, career and life.
10. MY SKILLS
I love what I do, so I feel that I am in my area
and I am doing what I have love all my
professional life, but if it is an opportunity to
do something else, I will do it.
11. COLLABORATIVE WORK
I think this is the key of some successful
companies, but it can be mine. I enjoy to
work with groups because it is better two
minds that only one.
